Lovely B and B on the northern edge of the village . Friendly, knowledgable hosts - just like staying with friends. Superb breakfast and nothing too much trouble. Sensible prices too. Views across the fields to Claife Heights and parking in the garden.

My partner Dave, nine year old daughter Emily and myself all enjoyed a wonderful second stay at Merlin House the second week of the Easter holiday, We received a warm welcome again as on our first visit last year, and found the owner Annie's hospitality to be just as enthusiastic. Nothing is too much trouble for her, and she was...

I stayed the night as I was going to a wedding in the village and didn't want to drive home. Merlin House in on the outskirts of the village overlooking the fields and fell but within walking distance of all the pubs. Warm and friendly atmosphere with upmarket decor. Good breakfast freshly cooked and delightful owner. Parking in the garden.

Melin House is an excellent B&B - the only place to stay when you're visiting Hawkshead (if you can get booked in!). Anne is so lovely and welcoming, and cooks an excellent breakfast. She makes sure you are well accommodated. The rooms are cosy, tidy, and are just what you are looking for at a local B&B. It is a...

Four of us stayed here a couple of weeks ago for two nights. It couldn't have been better really. Very welcoming hosts, excellent full English breakfasts, parking space and one minute walk from three or four pubs. It's also very well situated, being near Ambleside and Coniston. On the hosts' recommendations we visited Tarn Hows, which is just down the...

Very clean and comfortable property. Excellent breakfast and a very attentive and knowledgeable host who has lived in the village for many years. We didn't have a car but noted that this is one of the few places in town with a car park. Highly recommend.
