We popped into Kendal to have a look around and about 15:45 wanted something to eat. Most pubs would not serve food as it was "too late". However the Shakespeare Inn was open and willing to serve food all day (until 18:00 hrs). Very friendly service at the bar and when taking our order. A great start. We decided to...

It seemed the most obvious place for one night stay when my husband was playing in the tournament in the hall at the back of the yard. Great welcome even though we were approx an hour or so early, the room had already been cleaned so we were able to check in quickly. Our room was The Lysander which is...

Parking is tricky if you are not driving a Mini Cooper. Owner gave us a parking pass off site. Staff friendly and very accommodating. Family room for three adults was clean and comfortable. At the back, upstairs so it was quiet. Clean bathroom with lots of towels. Breakfast was large and tasty. Central location, within walking distance to deli, bakery,...

We enjoyed our 4 night stay here very much. Very clean, bright and quiet rooms with own private entrance at the back of the pub. Good choice of breakfast and ample serves. We visited the pub itself a few times and the owners Lyn and Dave and their staff (especially Abbey, Stu, Mike and Sue) made us feel very welcome....

Just got home from two lovely nights here with my partner Geoff. Stayed earlier in the year and was so impressed we went back! The room was lovely. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Abbie did a great job of cleaning the room and was nice and friendly whilst serving us breakfast. Stuart was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for...

We both ordered the special of the day, steak and ale pie. The pie was horribly over salted and the broccoli was inedible. The barman was friendly and apparently passed on our complaint. Would not recommend this eaterie.

Perfect for a one night stay to see the sights of kendal for a night out or if your attending a wedding as we were. The front of the hotel is totally different to the rooms at the back. They are small little one room cottages. Morden without trying to hard simple without being plain. Perfect. Staff were helpful and...

Brilliant pub. Bedroom was big and spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked bed and breakfast and the breakfast was excellent. The Shakespeare pub is right in the centre of town and has its own car park which is free at the back. It's a narrow road to drive through but we had no problem as my car...
