We have been in a number of times since the refurbishment, and always enjoy a good value pint in lovely surroundings. We decided to have a go at lunch on a very busy Tuesday. Although busy, bar staff were welcoming and friendly, and when enquiring about food, informed us of a wait due to having a large party in. We...

Had driven past during refurbishment. First impressions high quality! Once we managed to get a drink ( barman was outside having a fag) ordered food as well. Very disappointed. Clearly all frozen and refined. Chips maghony in colour and soggy - onion rings hard etc etc. Waitress polite and listened but obviously our feedback wasn't going to be acted upon....

Thought we'd try this hotel for Sunday lunch as it has change hands again. Arrived at 1.30 to be told they had no beef left. The alternative being gammon, sausage ,liver and onions or pork pie!,, raised this with new manager who didn't really seem bothered or responded with good customer service. What a shame, it's a lovely hotel but...

A very nice hotel with lots of cosy rooms, with several fireplaces, where you can have a good meal and a nice pint of beer with your friends/family. The staff are really friendly and always willing to help. The food is good and at a reasonable price. Our room was beautiful, with really comfortable beds. A lovely experience in Northern...

Four of us went out for tea and were most impressed by the welcome the beer and indeed the lovely and most reasonable food and will certainly be going back. Loved all the different rooms and little nooks. The mushroom, Brie and cranberry Wellington was tasty. Well done

Had a lovely meal. There was a nice mixture of traditional favourites (pies / fish'n'chips etc) and some interesting ideas (brie, mushroom and cranberry wellington). Friendly staff and a very reasonable price. The bar was quite crowded (which I see as a good sign). Didn't stay the night but might be tempted to have a few more beers and stay...
