Myself and husband stayed here for a last minute break. Our room did not have a lake view but was spotlessly clean with a very recently refurbished bathroom which was lovely. The hotel has lots of character and charm and the drive up to the hotel is almost as good as the walk through the old gate which then provides...

We had a 2 night stay, staff were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and the views of the lake were amazing. We ate in the hotel restaurant and at the nearby pub. Breakfasts were good with a selection to suit all.

Management do not care, when we said we were unhappy with the stay and asked for a refund it was refused. The hotel manager couldn't care less that I mentioned reviews on here - explains why they are 12/12. If it's not too far for you - stay at The Malabar in Sedbergh - the owners are so friendly and...

Stayed on Friday 24th March. Dale head hall is a stones throw from Thirlmere reservoir and has amazing views and lovely walks. The room was lovely and very clean, staff and owners are very polite and pleasant. Can highly recommend the food.

We were impressed with our superior room and view of the lake. The room was spacious, but not particulary warm. Breakfast was reasonable. As there were few guests staying in the hotel, the place lacked a "buzz". We have recently visited another hotel in the Lake District, surrounded by beautiful countryside and had everything needed for a pleasant stay. It...

We booked this room for my husband's 50th birthday and ended up feeling very disappointed. We paid £150 for a superior room. We did indeed have a lovely view from our window but unfortunately that was the only positive comment that I can make about the room. There were no bath robes and the few toiletries provided were of a...

Ok but it's pitch black on an unlit path! Further enquiries as to restaurant were fobbed off yet again and sent to...

No food unless booked in advance. If you go out you must leave your key in reception where anyone can get it. No phone signal. Expensive for what you get. Total waste of money! Dont stay here! Had to leave one star as i could'nt give less. Seriously, don't stay here!
