Room very clean and has everything that you need. Lovely fresh white towels and bedding. Tea and coffee station, hairdryer & shampoo/shower gel. Restaurant & bar both have a lovely atmosphere, food was amazing. Comes super hot and tastes amazing. All staff very friendly and inviting. Will definitely stay here again.

Our family of 7 stopped at the inn for 2 nights and we've had amazing stay. Every member of staff (from bar staff, housekeeping to management) had demonstrated excellent customer service, everyone was super kind and approachable throughout our stay and we felt like at home - thank you. They have great chefs there too - food was tasty, made from fresh ingredients and portions were perfect. The inn is clean and our allocated rooms were of good size and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed walks in the area, loads of paths and views are breathtaking.

We booked late having had our previous travel plans disrupted. If you arrive mid afternoon (as we did) this hotel is a slow burner. Its not overstaffed at this time of day which is understandable given what they've been through. But come 5.30pm when the kitchen opens the place comes alive. The people that work there, all of them, are top notch, friendly, welcoming, interested & attentive. Ok, let's go back. Check in is seamless & very friendly. Our room was lovely & really good value. But its the environment that's sets this hotel apart from others. Eat no where else. The food is just brilliant. Lots of choice. We were there for part of the weekend and we could choose from the a la carte, chefs specials and Sunday roasts menu. Every meal we had was first class and breakfast is equally good. This is also a dog friendly hotel, lots of 4 legged friends in and they even provide treats for them. We will be returning as this just proved to be one of the best places we've found. Highly recommend it.

What an amazing meal at a wonderful Inn. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were attentive but not in your face and boy did they work hard to accounting continuous flow of visitors. Highly recommend the Steak and Kidney Pudding and wife loved the roast lamb. A perfect end to a great day in the hills.

Greeted by Peter, who explained everything we needed to know. The room was warm and clean with a view over the fields opposite. Bed lovely and comfortable. Food was of a very good quality but felt the menu was a little limited but understand lack of staff was having an impact everywhere, not just at The King's Head. The real ale selection was good and the beers were well looked after. Seating area clean and tidy and again the seats were comfortable. I really hope this venue can get a full compliment of staff soon as the offering would I believe go to a "5" grading. Those who were there were lovely and friendly and worked really hard. Would revisit for sure.

Passed by while looking for somewhere to eat an evening meal … Kings Head looked inviting… so we went in and liked the menu … not cheap but got the impression of quality! Oh yes ! Definitely quality! My Better Half had the Rib Eye Steak and couldn’t fault it !! I asked for a Starter as a Main ( smoked salmon!!) and that was agreed … I also had the most amazing cheesy garlic bread to start and the smoked salmon proved to be an excellent choice … tasted superb! Thanks all! :)

Stop off on route back from Grasmere to Keswick. Had previously eaten here a few years previous. We had the beef Sunday lunch which was spot on! And the draft ales hit the spot as well. Lovely atmosphere and a nice traditional pub.

Never been made to feel so uncomfortable walking into somewhere to have a meal. Man behind the bar looking us up and down and staring at the children as if they were animals even though they were stood quietly whilst we asked if any tables were available. It was a last minute decision to go as the rain had started and we were unable to use our camping stove. If there was anywhere else that we knew of nearby to go we certainly would’ve walked straight back out but this place was next to where we were camping for the night. Average food.
