My wife and I spent two nights at Oakthwaite House in May 2011. David and Karen run a first-class operation. Our room (Room 2) was attractive and comfortable; breakfast featured not only a wide selection of top-quality food but also a style of service that enhanced the experience. When our clothes were soaked from a torrential downpour, David dried them...

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the smaller rooms. However, the room was excellent, good quality tea & coffee, very comfortable beds, super power shower, spotlessly clean and generally very comfortable. The Breakfasts were first class. The Granola Pot is lovely, the ingredients for the cooked breakfasts are clearly high quality. The location is very good. A short...

Have just come back from Oakthwaite House. A small B&B run by David and Karen. Our room was very clean, with views over the house tops of Skiddaw. Breakfast was brilliant, our personal preferences were extremely well catered for. My husband should only drink Redboos tea and it was provided every morning. Breakfast was superb. We had both cooked breakfast...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and quite honestly it is probably the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Our room (Room 2) was immaculate. Very comfortable bed, spacious room, modern en-suite. David and Karen had added lots of finishing touches including chocolates on the pillows and a bottle of fizz for the Newlyweds! Breakfasts were enormous...

Just stayed here for two nights as a suprise for my birthday, lovely B&B. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast to die for! Quality of food to the highest standard, you must try the homemade granola with greek yoghurt and honey, followed by the full English, struggled to finish it all but managed with a little help from across the...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in April 2010, and we booked it on the back of all of the reports on TripAdvisor. We weren't disappointed! A very warm welcome from David and the family and thoughtful touches in the room, including a bottle of wine and chocolate, made all the difference. The breakfast is absolutely amazing. You...

We were in room 4. It was teensy but very neat and clean. Tended to get a little chilly at night. The granola at breakfast was as delicious as all the other reviewers have claimed, and David was very helpful with recommendations for walks and places to eat. Decent selection of DVDs to watch at night. All in all, a...
