I have stayed here on a number of occasions and find that this is a restaurant that became a pub then a hotel, or was it a pub turned restaurant then hotel. The hotel is quaint the food is fantastic and I would recommend this for hotel food and pub its great.

A 2-day break, dinner bed and breakfast. Richard and his staff have got it spot on, warm welcomes, beautiful rooms, excellent food and hospitality. This is the second time we have stayed, although we have dined here many more times.

Had an overnight stay at this hotel, and I have to say it was really enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and the room was spacious and comfortable. We had an evening meal, which was delicious and a lovely breakfast the following morning. Valentines Dinner for two was just perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and the menu had plenty of choice. They had decorated each table with hearts and flowers and every lady received her single red rose. A complimentary glass of bubbles to boot along with well mannered and informative staff. Will be visiting again when we fancy a cosy night...

A lovely place to spend a wintry few days, log fire, friendly welcome, great choice of drinks, comfy furniture, relaxed enough that I wouldn't have been embarrassed to fall asleep in front of the fire! The room was warm and comfortable, modern but not 'cold'. Food great as always. Location is great for getting to Ullswater and Haweswater amongst others....

A group of seven "seniors" thoroughly enjoyed a very well organised New Year Celebration. The six course meal was great and the staff particularly attentive to our needs, especially mine being a gluten free requirement. Congratulations to all of the staff team for such a successful evening.

Only 5 mins drive from the M6 junction, and a further 5 minutes into the centre of Penrith. This is a lovely country pub, with very friendly staff. We had a hearty breakfast before setting off to Scotland. I'd go back again next time I was in the area, as it is so convenient and reasonably priced.
