Friendly and helpful owners. The breakfasts are amazing. In a peaceful setting. Everything was wonderful! Especially the homemade muffins. If you're lucky enough to stay on one of the nights they do dinner then make sure you have it. Ours was 3 courses and delicious. We will be staying here again next time we are in the Lake District.

Our family of five stayed at the B&B and we could not have wished for a better experience. Our boisterous children were welcomed and our housts, Jim and Tine, were spectacularly friendly and helpful. We had such a great time we are already considering when we might be able to return. Great location and, my word, the breakfasts Tine puts...

Stayed one night on our way home from Scotland. Big mistake - should have booked at least another two nights. We chose the Blencathra room at the northern end of the cottage. This is a quirky mini apartment with bed on the ground floor and seating (& TV) above with bathroom. WC is on the ground floor - handy at...

I think this is probably is the best B&B in Cumbria. We've stayed with Jim and Tine three times in 14 months and it really is a pleasure to spend time at Lowthwaite. The location is so peaceful even in August. The rooms are lovely, and the breakfasts and dinners are simply superb. Why anyone wants to have dinner elsewhere,...

We stayed at the Lowthwaite B&B in June as part of a 2 week tour of the UK. After several attempts (and no vacancies) for a booking in other top rated trip advisor B&B's we decided to give the Lowthwaite a try. We had some concerns that the B&B was too remote and hard to find. The B&B was actually...

My husband and I stayed at Lowthwaite B&B for our 1st wedding anniversary. If I had to make a top 10 of the places I recommend friends and family to stay it would be here as my number one. Jim and Tine have invested a lot of love and time into creating a wonderful peaceful haven here. They also invest...

Booked this wonderful B&B after being recommended by a friend from work. We were not disappointed, Went with our 2 nephews Matt and Dan, 11 and 15 and Jim and Tine made us all feel so welcome. The accommodation was first class and the beds so comfy. The cooked breakfasts were the best we have had in all of the...

We have now returned from our eighth visit to Lowthwaite! My husband and I had a fabulous weekend with our son and nearly 4 year old granddaughter. Nothing was too much trouble for Jim and Tine. Jim was a mine of information on the best places to take a 4 year old to paddle, and Tine was very accommodating in...

We only stayed one night, wish it was longer. A lovely welcome from Tine after we found the B&B. Super garden room, we loved watching the finches and a woodpecker at the bird feeder just feet from our window. The breakfast was superb and enjoyable. We will definitely stay again as we think we have found a gem.
