Me and my partner recently stayed at the howbeck and let me tell you! It was fantastic. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. After a gruelling 6+ hour trip due to delayed and cancelled trains we finally arrived around half past 10 at night! The lovely girl on the front desk was so cheery and could see we were...

We have started to use The howbeck as a company for our staff when they visit and me and my wife stayed and we loved it - its a beautiful hotel, the high standard that its kept in really does add to the experience, we felt really relaxed and also felt very pampered just being in the room. The breakfast...

Our overnight stay started badly when my husband forgot his bank card to pay! The staff at Howbeck were wonderful and sorted out payment with pre-saved details and also phoned ahead to our restaurant for the evening Cafe Riva to organise the same. Nothing was too much trouble which saved the day! Great room (the Retreat) with plenty of hot...

This was our second stay here and it certainly lived up to expectations. we stayed in the Lingmoor room which was very spacious and well appointed. A lovely display of petals and a box of yummy chocolates was a surprise greeting for my wife on her 60th. The staff as ever were very helpful and the spa pass was an...

What a very lovely place to stay. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The food was beautifully presented and delicious with great service. Thank you, we shall return.

The hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants in Windermere. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room itself was nice, and cleaned very well. I wouldn't rate it as 5* when I compare it to other places that we've stayed though. Breakfast was nice. One suggestion for...

My husband and I stayed for just 1 night in the Meregill room. The room and bathroom spotless, with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The Sherry went down a treat! The room was very, very hot due to the radiator in the bathroom, luckily my husband managed to turn it off! Our only complaint! The lady...

Thought the hotel was in a great location. Not too far from the centre of Bowness which was perfect as we like the wall in which takes about 15 minutes. The room (the retreat) was lovely and very clean. We liked the fact it is not in the main part of the hotel so you feel a bit more private....

Me and my girlfriend stay in Windermere every New Year's Day. We have previously stayed at the hideaway but that was fully booked. So we gave the howbeck a try. We booked in booking.com at £125. When we arrived we was given a room on the first floor basically next to the entrance which proved very noisy with people coming...

We stayed at the Howbeck for a birthday break. Given the price/description of the hotel we expected luxury. What we found wasn't quite that. The floor was dirty and the 'retreat' smelt strongly of paint and bleach. Paid extra for champagne and chocolates which were nicely presented alongside fairy lights and rose petals. We required a cot which was provided....
