I booked this hotel at the last minute as there was very little available. When I arrived, the one member of staff was having an argument on the phone about there being no fans in the room - “it is pot luck” it was later explained to me. She gave me a room upgrade as there were no doubles left and on the balance of probability since I’d been waiting for so long. The room was dated, with some modern features (such as the television). The bathroom was old and creeping with lime scale, the bed creaked when you breathed on it, the rooms was hot. The one good thing was the black out curtains. They were much needed. I woke up the following day with a migraine and the hotel were nowhere near flexible. Customer service useless. Whilst the sleep was okay, and it works well as a base, i couldn’t justify £58 on it. Find somewhere else!!

Where to start!!! Arrived at this hotel for 2 nights after enjoying a few nights in Liverpool on our way home, However we really wish we had drove straight home. On arrival the reception looked fine bit aged looking but generally ok. This changed when we stepped out the lift on the 3rd floor , We were met by a table which looked as if it would be better placed in a skip!!. On entering our room 322 the carpet was stained / Marked and looked well past its better days. Wallpaper torn / Marked as well , Windows filthy and look like they have never been cleaned , Bathroom had broken tiles generally shabby and extremely dated, No air con and 2 glasses which were in the room had plastic covers on them however on removing the plastic the glasses were filthy to say the least, Had we not made plans for each night we would have drove straight home. I must add we exhausted all avenues to find alternative accommodation but due to it being a really busy and warm weekend this was to no avail. The pictures on booking.com are not the rooms you get trust me!!!

The worst service very slow, the staff do not help with anything. The rooms are not what you see on pictures smell of urine cramped and small don’t get what you’ve paid for. Waste of time not family friendly

Grand hotel we found was terrible room not cleaned in 3 days bins not emptied was not advised you have to ask for clean towels from reception ,only some of the rooms are refurbished my daughter husband and son ,stayed for thirty minutes honestly the room was dirty you think the beds had not been made room was dirty bathroom was terrible my grandson had a pull out sofa type bed I would not have let my poor dog on that bed the mattress was so thin you could feel ever spring . I can honestly say I have never stayed in a hotel so dirty luckily my daughter go a hotel not far along the promenade from the hotel .

Family of 4, arrived on Monday 19th for 2 nights and entered hotel to be hit with the stifling heat indoors, went to reception to check in only to be told after we had paid £300 that the pool was out of order and might be working the next day. Charged £7 per night for car parking also. Walked to room and whole hotel was stifling hot, i mean swrioisly hot, went into room and was even hotter with windows open, went back to reception to see about air con to be told there's a fan in our room, wasn't one there but the housekeeper gave us one from another room, went out for the day and came back at night and none of us could sleep as far far too warm and the small fan was only moving hot air about, phoned reception at 10pm to se if any other rooms or anymore fans to be told no to both and that that they think the swimmimg pool is fixed but they are unsure. Never slept all night, all lying on top of covers, pillows never had pillow cases on them, pillows were lumpy, bed uncomfy, bedside lamps didn't work, toilet seat was loose, place was run down. Went down in morning to pool to be told you need to book a time slot and it's £2 per person but it's fully booked and closes at 5pm, nobody at reception told us any of this on check in and didn't see it anywhere on website, wanted to check out and go home but try telling a 5 year old and 13 year old who has autism that we're leaving, went for breakfast in restaurant and again sitting in a total sweat box, 1 of the staff told us the hotel were refusing to pay £30,000 to get air con fixed, went back to reception to ask if any other fans to be told no, asked if air con would be fixed to be told by Lucinda on reception very abruptly that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, told her staff member upstairs just told us the hotel were not paying £30k to get it fixed and her face dropped, asked to speak to a manager and conveniently enough no supervisor in until lunchtime, asked for complaimts number / email and was given a scrap piece of paper with an email address on it, another staff member behind reception then told me out of the blue that they can only issue refunds up to 10%, refunds had never been mentioned at this time, we then witnessed several other parties complaining and some actually checking out early. We stayed out from 9.30am until 10pm the next day to avoid being in our room and only be there as minimal a time as possible, even on check out there was no thanks for staying or how was your stay, just a goodbye. Will never return to this hotel and would advise others to book elsewhere, we wish we had booked the Big Blue Hotel, only difference was the swimmung pool which we bever got to anyway. Worst hotel ever stayed in by a long way. Photos don't do it justice as to how bad it was, wish we had taken more.
