Sefton Park Hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian Villa overlooking the Boating Lake in Sefton Park, the largest park in Liverpool. It is one of the original detached houses on the perimeter of the park where rich merchants and shipping magnates once lived in style. Today it offers a warm friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation and quality food and drink which is served in Astrid's Bar and Michelngelo's Italian Restaurant. More modern history confirms that 'The Blenheim' was, infact, the family home of the fifth Beatle, Stuart Sutcliffe in the 1960s. Stuart's family continued to live here until 1970.

The Sefton Park Hotel garners praise for its enchanting atmosphere and prime location near lush Sefton Park, offering guests a true local feel with easy access to Liverpool's heart. The hospitable staff and spotless rooms contribute to a welcoming experience, although some visitors mention occasional noise disturbances.
Room sizes are generally appreciated for their spaciousness, though a few lack amenities and can be on the chillier side. The dog-friendly policy and quality dining options are popular among guests, adding value to their stay in this picturesque setting.

Detailed Reviews
This lovely hotel located directly across from the lake in Sefton Park takes you back to Liverpool in the sixties! It has a wonderful feel and is adorned with a wealth of Beatles-related memorabilia, due to this being original Beatles bass player Stuart Sutcliffe's home for a time. The staff is wonderful and friendly, right down to the housekeepers. Start your day with an authentic British "brekky" and you can wrap up your day in their cozy bar with your favorite beverage. If you want a total British experience give the Sefton a try. I think you'll like it!

On the plus side, the hotel is very nicely located , opposite Sefton Park . There is free parking . The room was very basic but very clean . The staff was lovely . The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was decent . However, we could have done with a second bedside table and lamp , a rubbish bin as well as a lock in the bathroom , a hair dryer and bigger mugs. The door was very hard to manœuvre due to the thick carpet . Overall a pleasant stay, good value for money.

On the plus side , the hotel is very well situated, opposite Sefton park. There is free parking and it is quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean but lacking storage space and an information pack ( the wifi password was at reception ) . There was a skirting board missing underneath the radiator, the door was hard to open due to a very thick carpet . We would have liked a second side table and lamp shade ( only on one side of the bed) , a rubbish bin in the bathroom , a hairdryer and bigger mugs for tea. All these “little” things would truly add value and comfort !

This hotel overlooking Sefton Park is only a stone's throw from lark lane bars and restaurants. We have stayed here three times and its USP is its staff, who are all warm friendly and good humoured.
Tonight we tried the evening menu and thanks are due to George the chef for a lovely steak, cooked to perfection and the unexpected thrill of homemade chips which were cooked to perfection.
The personal touch makes the difference and Ryan in the bar certainly looked after us tonight, nothing was too much trouble.
This morning a member of staff jumped in his car dland returned came with a croissant when they ran out.
Customer service is alive and kicking.

1. The general decor of the place is tacky with endless tributes to the Beatles. Felt unclean and staff were rude.
2. There was a mix-up with our dates/booking and after 3 nights of the room being empty, they had no courtesy to call or email. We then arrived the following weekend and had to pay again.
3. During our stay we heard the receptionist say to a walk-in "We've got a few no-show rooms we can make available" so they are clearly charging twice for the same room. No regard for the customer.
3. My partner was covered in bites/some sort of reaction after sleeping in the beds
4. Cleaners were really loud in the morning with blaring music on
5. Drunk people shouting outside all night.

+1
A surprise gift for a 3 night luxury break including breakfast using Buy a gift vouchers, which turned completely the opposite. Small Car park. A £25 credit card declaration form was signed if any damages. Room 202 - student accommodation would have been better. Surface gloss paint to cover up, not the glossy room photos advertised on their website. The door handle not been been screwed back on to secure door or our belongings, holes in wall, one set of towels for 2 guests, on arrival after a long journey my partner took a shower. the shower tray was blocked so I could not shower after him before I went out. Road noise bad. The room was so hot and the sash windows would not stay up for any ventilation. We requested a room move as Room next door was also blocked and the maintenance person had gone home, we were given Room 207, same issue with security of door where the old lock was polyfilled and fire closure broken to close the door. I lay on bed and sunk in not because it was so soft & luxurious but, because the bed base was completely broken and a mattress just put on top thinking this was acceptable . Again I went to reception as one of us would not of slept comfortably. Room move to 302 an attic at the top. Pigeons cooing on window and roof early hours. Snoring from room next door all night. No toilet roll holder and 2 shower doors that did not meet in the middle. The carpet was a tripping hazard from bathroom to the room. Breakfast was included for 3 mornings in our supposedly luxury trip, I asked on check in breakfast times to be told 8 am-9 am we went down the following morning 8.30 am and we were told ‘The chef has not pitched up today go find somewhere else to eat breakfast and request a refund’. Obviously no where near unless a car ride away we were totally not impressed. We were told we could complain and like standard practice handed a complaint form which the manager & owner would read and contact me. We decided this was not what we were expecting and had been lenient long enough and decided to check out. We were told the manager would be in at 2pm and would contact me that day, after no phone call I rang that evening to be told the manager did not come in as they had hurt their ankle. By this point we checked into another hotel and had to pay out for expenses we intentionally thought was covered as in bed and breakfast as it was a long trip back home. I emailed the following day addressing my issues to the manager & owners and requesting a full refund of my £259 vouchers. Neither have even acknowledged to contact me direct. This Hotel is being ran single handed by a student who has to also run the bar, meal area, maintenance and deal with complaints management should be dealing with. Terrible experience would not recommend anybody stay here.

Been a guest for over 2 months and have been made to feel as special as the first day I arrived with a staff that are friendly and willing to help you with any request within their capacity. The facilities are adequate for any traveler or business guest all within a unique and very much a Liverpool only Beatles theme with a key focus on original member Peter Sutcliffe with a fantastic collection of original Beatles artwork and memorabilia which covers all the communal areas and is well worth stopping in to view even if not a hotel guest, which also is not the only reason to stop in as a visitor as it has a fantastic Bar and Restaurant.
The hotel rooms are clean and the beds are very comfy made up with fresh white linens, Most if not all rooms (cannot say for sure as I have not been in all) have a view that is both historic and tranquil as the hotel itself faces onto the lake in Sefton Park and the surrounding houses are from a period of great wealth; mainly Victorian and some Georgian all built in various styles by the wealthy owners, if you look hard enough there are buildings of an even earlier time. I mention this as it has always been of interest to me.
What I like most about the staff and the hotel most is that down to earth approach too hospitality without that formulaic attention and routine the industry rewards with STARS, no this is a true Liverpool hospitality with friendly humor and core service and facilities and no sugar coated airs and graces which for some of us is a little uncomfortable.

I recently had my daughters Christening in the hotel after being let down by the original venue. The room was decorated beautifully, where I have previously paid someone to dress function rooms this was included in the hire price, I had also asked for the staff to set out my sweet table which was done on a cart and also looked lovely and at no extra cost. Bar prices are very reasonable and the staff very helpful.
Thanks again to Nadine and the rest of the staff, I would definitely recommend the function room to family and friends we all had a lovely afternoon.

Location was absolutely spot on. Service was a mix. Some staff very friendly especially Julie and Callum in the evening. Breakfast was better on our 2nd day but on the Thursday morning was very poor. Our toast was brought out uncut on plates there was little to no choice with cheese or ham for continental if you were under 12 there was a good selection of coco pops and the like. At least on the Friday morning there was a better service with toast in a toast rack and some decent ham was available. Our bedroom was so cold when we came back one day we had to ask reception to put the heating on. The room was reasonable except for a cheap plastic chair. The window dressing was huge and it was only on leaving and fully pulling the curtain back to check I hadn't left anything that I noticed a crack in the window. I reported it at reception. Instead of being thanked for the report the receptionist said well this had not been reported before. Well my dear there is always a first report. Given we are pensioners we are hardly likely to have a wild party however we were asked to pay a deposit which I am pleased to say has been returned. Would I stay there again I am afraid at my age I expect a better service so my answer is no unless they heed the review and let Julie and Callum train their other staff.

A word to the wise regarding bookings at Sefton Park Hotel during any Pandemic, Fire Flood or Famine.
Apparently the word is that you must read the entire Chapters of War & Peace commit them to memory before you are likely to receive anything resembling a refund should you need one due to any Government imposed restrictions on Travel and overnight accommodation.
Now to the details. A 2 night stay was booked for November 2020 and the terms were that any cancellations up to 2 days before arrival were free with no penalty.
The Government put Liverpool into a Tier 3 Lockdown in October 2020. No travel to or from and no hotel stays were permitted. So needing to cancel I rang the hotel numerous times on the telephone to cancel the booking. There was no answer, maybe that is because no one was in the hotel due to being closed in a lockdown , I`m guessing ?.
Next best thing was send an e mail which was sent 11 days before my arrival date. Bearing in mind the 2 days notice cut off date . so 9 days to play with.
E mail was sent direct to the hotel informing them of the cancellation. That would be the end of it one would suppose.
Oh no .... Imagine my surprise when my next bank statement arrived where i saw there had been a debit of £161 paid to the Sefton Park Hotel taken 2 days before my due arrival date , how strange I thought the hotel was closed to visitors and i had informed them had I not ? .
A call was made to the hotel and great someone answered after a bit of deliberation stated that no e mail had been received by them. I had the e mail infront of me as i spoke. I called again the following day and spoke to a young lady who found my e mail. She was obviously a Junior member of staff who had to seek authorisation from a Senior staff member regarding my request for the money taken to be refunded as i had cancelled and not stayed at the Hotel.
I called back 3 days later as I had not heard back from the hotel and spoke to a female who gave me the impression was a manager. She confirmed the e mail and stated she would process my refund.
6 days later no refund had been received. Called again and spoke to the same female staff member who now told me no refund would be issued because the cancellation was not done in the Correct Manner on the Booking website despite acknowledging the fact that they had my e mail.
Now clearly this ruling was that of the owner who i asked if i could speak to direct. No was the reply. So an e mail was sent direct to the owner . No reply or acknowledgement has ever been received from the Owner
Great Public relations and a great way of running a business and endearing yourself to Customers.
I would have liked to have stayed and to have given a balanced review following it, but guess I will now never have the Displeasure of staying at the Sefton Park Hotel in the future. The next best thing I suppose is to line the pockets of a business for
a service that was never provided.
I hope the owner enjoy`s the £161 He should adopt the name Dick Turpin.
