First I'll say that it's brilliant because car parking is on site and free ( one of the reasons I chose this hotel). Lady on reception was lovely and friendly. We were on floor 2 ( the top floor ) she gave us a room with a view of the river. Our only real issue was that there isn't a lift ( I know I should have checked as I'm disabled and struggle with stairs). When I asked if there was a lift she said no and asked if it was going to be a problem, I said I'd be ok ( I suspect that she would have changed our room to the level floor if I'd said it was a problem). Once in the room it was quite small but ok and clean. It had a shower. My only criticism of the room is the wardrobe ( or lack of) it is a small rail coming horizontally out of the wall. Now I'm a girl who does not travel light and my partner was instantly worried about where his clothes were going to go. As a woman I'm use to being resourceful and hung his clothes on the 2 coat hooks on the back of the door. Problem solved.
Bed was fairly comfy and we had 4 decent nights sleep.
The hotel has a bar, and again staff very friendly. £3.75 a pint my partner said. We ate in the Hotel restaurant one night and it was a nice "pub" meal. I had gammon, partner had pie and we both enjoyed it. Around £8 a meal. We were booked in for various shows and attractions and decided not to use the car and receiption were happy to call a taxi for us.
We visited Albert Dock, the ferry port at pier head and the Beatles story and we ( or should say I as I'm the disabled one) were able to walk to these from the Hotel. We had tickets for the empire theatre, the Royal Court theatre and Unity theatre, I needed a taxi to these but my partner says if he was on his own they were all walkable to him. We also had a taxi to the Cavern Club and shopping street but again walkable for none disabled people.
The hotel is more or less opposite a KFC and a McDonalds.
This hotel is a budget hotel and for what we paid £149 for 4 nights was perfect for us. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to family and friends. Some of the friendliest staff we've met. Only 4* instead of 5* because of no lift or wardrobe but these didn't impact on our stay.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are located on Queen’s Dock, which is only a short distance from most of Liverpool’s main attractions, restaurants and bars, such as the M&S Bank Arena, Baltic Triangle and Liverpool ONE. We also offer a free car park for all guests, meaning guests can park up and take a short walk into the city, without having to worry about finding a parking space. I am happy that you were pleased with the staff and the cleanliness of our hotel; our staff work hard to ensure that our standards remain high and that our services is as good as it can be, and I am glad to see that this is being noticed. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Zaac

We stayed in the Dolby Hotel over Valentines weekend and loved every minute of it, Storm Dennis didn't even put a dampener on it! It is very reasonably priced, we were warmly greeted and were given a room on the 1st floor overlooking the dock. The room was spotlessly clean, nice and warm and was very well equipped with everything you would need. The bathroom was very small, but was not a problem. The staff, assistant manager and cleaners were very friendly and polite and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning. We didn't dine in the restaurant but the bar was very reasonably priced (cheaper than most, if not all) I've every stayed in. We will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel ... should be a 3 star!

The Dolby Hotel is my "to go" place when working in Liverpool. I started coming on am monthly basis since June last year and only stayed elsewhere a handful of times.
The venue is quite modern and easily accessible with FREE parking which is a great bonus.
The rooms are just big enough to accommodate a couple (I travel solo so the extra space is more than appreciated) and always extremely clean.
It was my second visit since the Covid restrictions kicked in and I have to say that I was impressed with how well the staff managed the new situation.
Hand sanitizers are everywhere in the public areas, staff wearing masks, washing their hands or using the gel after touching almost everything.
The check in process was as easy as every time, just with a perplex glass between you and the receptionist.
The new regulations now mean that you cannot have any disposable items in the room so no magazines or tea and coffee facilities BUT you can come downstairs and help yourself to as many coffee or tea sachets as you like and as often as you like.
Overall, I think that Dolby did really well in order to get used to this new way of life. I will be coming back next month again and can't wait for that.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am happy to hear that you found our extra measures for protecting against Covid-19 to be effective, we are taking extra measures to try and help reduce chances of spread. Some of these extra measures are automatic hand sanitiser dispensers for guests, separate hand sanitiser dispensers for staff, a one-way system around the hotel, a PPE screen for reception, a change to services and more. We are located on Queen’s Dock, which is only a 10-minute walk from most of Liverpool's main attractions, restaurants, and bars, such as the M&S Bank Arena, Baltic Triangle and Liverpool ONE. Either on my own or with my wife, we have visited the Dolby Hotel on countless occasions over a number of years and only now am I writing a revew! My sincere apologies to both present and past staff who have all made our stays so very enjoyable, we feel like part of a family and have so many great memories and stories to tell, but not here!

From the newest member of staff through to the longest serving employee, nothing is too much bother should you require any assistance or just want a good laugh. I acknowledge that reviews are subjective and opinions can differ, but facts are facts. Prices are very competitive, food and drinks sensibly priced, optional breakfast is first class, communal areas and rooms spotless, the location is ideal for all visitors to Liverpool, free and monitored parking, free wifi, I could go on!

Just to set the record straight, I am not being paid by the hotel to write nice things, this is a genuine heartfelt review. Give the Dolby Hotel a go, you will not be disappointed, enjoy!

The Dolby is in a great location and the free parking is great as other hotels were wanting £15 per day to park. Check in was quick and we asked for iron and iron board and it was free of charge.

Bathroom is very small but howeve the shower was good and the bed is so comfy. Have stayed in other hotels and the bed hasnt been comfy So I would end up not being able to sleep as my back would be sore.

There isn’t wardrobe space but we just lived out there bag tho if you were there for longer than a weekend then it might be a problem for some people. The cleaner did come to the door every day but our room was clean and tidy we just got fresh towels and tea bags and toilet roll.

The menu is small but we did have the chicken tikka curry with rice, fries and Nan bread and it’s only £8.95. We did have breakfast on our last day today and it was £8.95 but included cereal, yoghurts, cakes, toast and full English, unlimited tea, coffee and juice.

We would definetly stay here again as it’s only about a 15 min walk into town centre

We stayed here for 6 nights last week. We were visiting various Parts of NW but wanted Liverpool as our base.
Hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
We were originally meant to have an apartment for the week but had that cancelled on us.

The dolby offered an affordable alternative and we liked the dock location, the free parking made our choice for us.

The rooms were a bit on the small side. The bathrooms were extremely small (if i had seen pictures it would have stopped me booking). It looked like a bathroom you would find on a ferry. Absolutely tiny. The shower was floor level and very small, when you had a shower the curtain clung to you and literally wrapped itself around you (very unhygienic and freaked me out). I would have given a four star review if not for the bathroom but on a six night stay not wanting to use the shower every day is a deal breaker.
However many other plus points to the hotel.
We had a beautiful view of the docks from our window. If you are walking into town take comfortable shoes - location is nearer the yach club/kings dock so it is quite a walk. We enjoyed the walk due to the glorious weather.
We did like the fact that the bar and restaurant were open (some hotels still have them shut). On the evenings we were too tired to walk to town we were able to have a few beers in the sun overlooking the dock. Bar was reasonable priced and decent choice.
The free parking was fantastic, saved us spending a fortune in ncp car parks.
As mentioned all the staff were lovely in what are testing times in hospitality.
If you need somewhere to stay for a night its a great hotel. For longer stays the bathroom may be problematic.

We overall liked this hotel however the initial first impression was not great. We had booked a standard double room through Expedia. When we arrived we were shown to a room with a bunk bed above a double bed. When we checked our emails our Expedia booking said standard double room but when we spoke to the man on reception and showed him our booking ,he said we had been given a standard double and it was because we had booked through Expedia and we would need to speak to them if we had any problems with this. When we went back to the room and checked the hotel website, we could see that we had been given a triple which is a bunk bed not a double room. We weren’t very happy as it wasn’t what we paid for but it was clearly not going to change so we settled in. Other than this being very weird and a risk of bumping our heads, the stay was good. The room is on the small side but not ridiculously so.
I have divided our review into pros and cons.

Pros.
The hotel is immaculately clean with a comfortable bed and those are the most important things for any hotel.
The staff were pleasant and professional
The shower is hot and powerful with provided showergel on the wall which smelled nice and avoids the annoying and wasteful individual little plastic bottles that most hotels provide.
There are two usb charging points as well as 2 plug sockets which is useful.
We ate at the hotel restaurant the first night and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. It also has a nice view over the water.
There is free wifi which works well.
The free hotel parking is a real bonus as parking in Liverpool is extortionate
Location is great as only a 10-15 minute walk to attractions.
Nice and quiet.

Cons
The main issue for us was the bathroom. It is a pod style bathroom that looks like it belongs in a small caravan. The area is so small that when I went to the toilet , I frequently accidentally stepped into the shower. The shower area almost flat so that the water turns the rooms into a wet room. Fortunately the provided bathmat soaks up most of that but it’s not a pleasant experience. The shower curtain isn’t long enough and sticks to your wet body when you turn around. The whole pod is just a poor design.
There aren’t any plug sockets by the bed so all charging of phones has to happen on the table where the sockets are and tea is made in the corner of the room.
The bunk bed over the bed is awkward and we were constantly wary of bumping our heads.
The website says there is a wardrobe but actually it’s just an area on the wall with 6 hangers. The storage is very minimal.

Overall there were many more advantages than disadvantages to this hotel which is reasonably priced with parking and you get a decent amount for the money.

I was attracted to the Dolby Hotel since it offered good rates for a centrally located hotel, ideal location near the waterfront and centre and especially free car parking - a definite plus when staying in town or city centre accommodations. The hotel itself was exactly what I hoped for: comfortable room with small en suite, fast and stable wi-fi and everywhere was spotlessly clean. They were very careful in their coronavirus precautions and instructions to the guests as to what to do were clear (and communicated in advance of my trip). The hotel dealt with my change of duration and dates made at short notice very efficiently. My only criticism was the signage outside: I missed the small sign showing how to get to the hotel once you've turned off the main road so spent a few minutes trying to work out where the access road was. Other than this I was very happy with my stay. Many thanks.

Booked to stay this weekend however due to the coronavirus and the Liverpool football match being cancelled we wanted to change our dates. I am an 82-year-old man with health issues so have been advised not to travel too far but the hotel would not understand this and still took full payment with no understanding. Very rude manager on the telephone when trying to negotiate. Understand they are a small business and we wasn’t asking for a refund just simply wanted to change the dates. Have stayed in many small hotels and have nothing but good things to say where members of staff go out their way to make you have a pleasant stay and are so nice you know you will will return again, Definitely not the case with this hotel I’d advise anyone not to pay upfront . So annoying as had the option to pay at the end of our stay if we had opted for this as we wouldn’t of been in this situation.
Stay safe everyone .
