Great place to stay for a couple nights for a decent price. We arrived a few hours before check in time to drop our bags off, but to our delight the room was all ready for us so we were checked in early. Reception staff were very friendly and chatty!
The room has a very comfortable double bed, large tv , nice bathroom and shower, and also has tea/ coffee/ fridge facilities- with an added little bonus of a chocolate bar as opposed to biscuits!
The location is perfect , about a 10 minutes walk to the main shops and the docks in Liverpool , and around 10 minutes to Lime Street station.
The hotel also served breakfast, dinner and had a bar that was open until 2am- however we didn’t use these facilities.
The only cons was the cleanliness, but even so nothing major. The bed side tables were a little dusty and a couple stains on the pillow case, and the shower head was a little stained looking.

Overall a really pleasant stay, just what we needed for a night in Liverpool.

I bought a deal on groupon for my boyfriend for Christmas which included, an over night stay in a suite, three course meal, a bottle of Prosecco and breakfast. On arrival the hotel is in a fabulous location right next to the town centre & Museums, we were greeted by lovely members of staff and got taken to our room in which we found lovely, large included kitchen area and separate living area however the toilet seat was off the hinges and there was a red substance on the floor near to the bathroom. We don’t like complaining but for the money I spent it was necessary as I wanted the night to be perfect, they kindly upgraded us to another room which was also beautiful and even bigger than the previous room. When unpacking we noticed a pair of dirty socks on the floor under the table and a smell in the room which was not very pleasant, we just felt extremely unclean. Complaining another time was extremely embarrassing but had to be done they kindly upgraded us to a bigger room and we were hopeful this time. However when entering the bedroom area we noticed damp along the walls of the bed and dust everywhere as though there hadn’t been any guests or cleaners in there for a while. Too embarrassed to complain a third time we decided it was only for a night and to deal with it as the room itself was lovely looking and the bed was extremely comfy. The food included in the deal was amazing, brilliant set menu with many options, felt extremely luxurious and the drinks were a reasonable price and the breakfast in the morning was a buffet which I couldn’t fault. All staff seemed lovely and an overall pleasant stay however the rooms definitely need a deeper clean or maybe a refurb is definitely before welcoming guests.

Stayed here with partner last night.
When we arrived was impressed got to room and there was a bad odour in bathroom, like drains or something and windows were all open. We weren’t that bothered but then noticed there was at least 4/5 flies in room. We asked reception for fly spray not asking to switch rooms and be awkward, was told it would be brought up by cleaners - never did. Then on our way out we asked if it could be brought for second time and was told by different receptionist that it would be put in our room for when we got back. This didn’t happen either. Returned to room with flies still on lights.

Room was also very hot, which isn’t a problem but the air-con needed remote which wasn’t in room, so either had to go reception to ask for it or pay, either one is silly really when you’ve already paid for the hotels services.

Not all negative though, still clean rooms and very nice bathroom, beds standard, in the morning there was a very lovely woman on reception who helped with our parking, think she was Latin American if that helps! Sorry if incorrect.

Thank you for your recent review. I am sorry to hear of the flies that you found in your room and apologies for the failure to sort this issue out, I will be speaking with the team today to reiterate the importance of how to handle a basic guest request. On a more positive note I am really pleased you found the room to be clean and I will be sure to pass your kind words on to Amanda. Regards

This was advertised as 4* on Booking.com. The photos looked amazing & as we knew restaurants were closed due to Coronavirus it made sense to book a Suite with kitchen facilities.
Upon entering the hotel it seemed very grand & welcoming, and I could not speak more highly of the lovely gentleman than checked us in.
We entered the room & the first thing to hit us was the terrible smell, a huge contrast to the nice clean smelling hallway. The room looked nothing like the photos but my husband and I were there for a family funeral so thought we could cope for the 2 nights.
The kitchen unit was broken. There was yoghurt smeared and dried in on the back of the bathroom door, the table & the chairs. We had kids a long time ago, so not a massive issue, but disappointed that housekeeping didn’t spot it since it was everywhere.
I went to reception for a cloth & was offered someone to come & wipe it. I said I’d do it & the gent said housekeeping would be in to re-clean the next day.

We went to Tesco for some febreeze to get rid of the smell.
Upon coming back we looked around a little more closely.
Biscuit wrapper on the floor. Chocolate on the carpet & vinyl kitchen floor. We were sticking to the bathroom & vinyl floor.
The table remained sticky.
The Bathroom had urine Staines down both sides of the outer toilet, there was what appeared to be sick on the outside of the toilet bowl & some suspect looking pieces stuck to the tiles next to the toilet. The grout and tiles were cracked & discoloured.
The bedding was ripped at the top.

It was late, we went to sleep in the two single beds pushed together with an obvious ridge in the middle with the knowledge the room would be cleaned the next day.

We went to the funeral after placing some towels on the floor as instructed in the bathroom for replacement & neatly organising the rubbish.

After a very long day, we returned to find the bins still full, the bathroom still dirty, the towels on the floor & no beds made.
I spent the next hour trying to find alternative accompaniment but without luck.
We had to spend the night again in a filthy room. As soon as we woke the next day, we checked out & highlighted to reception they needed to speak to housekeeping as the room was disgusting.

I’ve stayed in the Doubletree for cheaper than the two nights here. Utterly disappointed how shockingly inaccurate the photos are & how inadequate the cleaning services were, even after highlighting issues.

Would not recommend

Thank you for your review. I am really disappointed to read your comments, this is completely unacceptable and I am surprised we could even class this room as being cleaned. I will be investigating immediately the points raised as I am somewhat embarrassed to say the least. Thank you for bringing this to my intention. Regards Joe Little

Arrived for an overnight stay and hotel looked lovely on outside and can’t fault most of the staff. The food in the restaurant was good aswell
Be warned the hotel let’s homeless people stay and although I don’t have any issues with that the people that come into the hotel of an evening are not the clientele you really want wandering the corridors when your in your room at night. There was three people let in when we was going out for a walk. They smelt of weed and also the lady was screaming across she still had half her bottle of vodka to drink. I understand what the hotel is trying to do but if they can afford things such as weed and vodka they have money
The first room we was shown too stunk of weed and had a broken shower and door and was then taken immediately to a second. This room seems ok until shoes were off later that evening after settled in and we found toenails all over the floor and in the bed (which we took to reception).
I would never stay again unless I could be assured that no one from the streets were coming in as you felt you needed to sleep with one eye open
I have since had a refund through groupon as manager did agree to a full refund and also has said I can go back anytime to try the hotel again for free. That says it all really. Just such a shame as it’s a lovely hotel but it lets itself down

Alf, wow thank you for your feedback...quite hard to believe when we have gone out our way to not only provide you with a full refund for your stay and on top of this offer another complimentary return visit you still feel the need to go on tripadvisor. I can clearly see we have done everything and more in our power to rectify the issues raised and granted not the best experience but when our manager on duty has gone over and above what I would deem to be a fair discount I am honestly surprised to read your review. Don’t waste your money staying at this hotel.
Hotel is very tired.
We arrived on Sat 7th August and checked in and were given room 223.
We went to our room and it was full of flies.
The room was dirty and very dirty
I went and complained and was given keys to other room 461
This was only slightly better
Window lock was broken/damp on walls/stains on carpets/walls with cracks/curtains falling down/cobwebs on lights/cracks in bathroom wall
They offered me a reduction of 20% or a full refund and go and find someone else which at 3.30pm on a sat was not practical as there were 6 of us
I accepted the 20% but advised receptionist I was not happy and wanted to see the manager who was not in until Sunday
This hotel is 1 star at best
I didn’t see the manager before we left but emailed on Monday with my concerns along with pictures of the room which they have not replied too as they seem to have a lot of complaints to deal with
We paid £150 for this room
The standard of this hotel is way below what I expect

After looking at the hotel reviews on another site, we booked a Junior Suite for a couple of nights at 4 star prices. Upon arrival, check in was smooth but the room we were given was not what we expected plus grotty and dark. We moved upstairs to a better looking room, however there was large dry urine patches over the toilet seat. Given the current pandemic, we would expect even more attention to cleanliness. We went down to report this to reception and asked for the cleaners to go back in whilst we took a drink at the bar.
The drinks and service were as expected and the waiter was attentive. However, whilst we were enjoying our drinks, another resident entered the restaurant claiming she had to do her washing, she soon returned with arm fills of washing asking about room service. Moments later a partially dressed lady walked through the restaurant. At this time, we began to think that the hotel was also supporting the homeless during the pandemic. We were not affected by this despite being disappointed by the price we had paid.
We walked up to the tesco and there was a ruckus going on outside, the pair who were clearly under the influence walked into our hotel. They were followed by another guys who was literally’legless’ struggling to walk. Again, no affect upon our stay.
Upon our return to the room, the toilet seat had been cleaned. However, when ready to put the tv on, I had to clean old lettuce and grime from the remote control. There were sticky cup patches on the coffee table and food on the floor. We raised our third complaint before unpacking and asked for a refund.
I believe the standards of going off those previous ones have dropped significantly. I think housekeeping need to be reviewed. Safety was also a concern. Another resident and yes I’m stereotyping who looked under the influence, went to reception, mentioned his key card wasn’t working. He gave a room number and the receptionist recharged his key without asking a single security question such as asking his name! Please wait until standards improve before booking a stay here.

From the moment you walk in you realise you are somewhere special.
My room was described as a basic double, it was actually huge. The bed was the biggest king size bed I have slept in. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows.
There is a small fridge which contained complimentary bottles of water and a small bottle of milk.
The shower was lovely and for a change pristine bath sheets were provided. Also Complimentary toiletries. The room was cleaned to an excellent standard.
There was free WiFi and a big screened TV.
Good variety of cooked and continental breakfast, all delicious.
We had a bit of time to spare, the hotel let us store our bags securely while we went for a walk.
We were able to wait in the brasserie until we were ready to go.
I was tempted to stay another night. I would definitely return.

The Richmond is well located within easy walking distance to the main shopping areas, but the published photographs are probably quite old.
Upon arrival even the entrance steps made us concerned about the rest of the place, they were shabby and not cleaned recently, with cigarette Stubbs and paper litter all around. The reception is hidden to the right and was busy when we arrived, but the staff were friendly and welcoming. Finding your room is a little confusing as nobody explained that you have to look for your apartment number first and each apartment contains three rooms.
The room we had was tired looking, just a little bit bashed around the edges, the mattress was very soft and we could feel the springs, although the main curtain was nice the net ones had holes in them. The Kitchen was not very useable it lacked equipment but that really didn’t effect us, as I had no intention of cooking anything, but others might.
The Bar Dining area is okay but we dined out whilst we were there so cant comment on the food.
Overall it was just okay, nothing special for the price charged and less attractive than official photos indicate, we would not stay there again

The hotel is based in a lovely old building and the lobby area is well decorated. The room itself was also nice with a high ceiling. It was mostly clean, although I was disappointed to note that the bin was still full of the guests previous rubbish and the TV remote was sticky and full of crumbs.

My main complaint would be the noise. The room has wooden windows so you can hear everything outside, especially when drunk people are singing and shouting as they walk past! The walls are also very thin, you can hear the other guests in the rooms and corridors very easily.
