We stayed here for just one night on a brief theatre break. Enjoyed a good afternoon tea at the hotel and a nice relaxing drink in the bar, but otherwise just used as a base. The reasons it's not a 5 for me; There was a delay in the room from checkin time, even though we had arrived early and...

We recently stayed at the wonderful Athenaeum in London. Everything was perfect! The location is unbeatable, the room was great, and the service was outstanding. The concierge was particularly helpful.

My husband and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary there and we've been spoilt to bits! Coming back to our room, from the SPA (small, but excellent treatments and very quite), we found chocolate cake and strawberries. A sweet thought, much appreciated. The staff is competent, professional, friendly and everything you would expect from a high-standard hotel. And I can...

This is a very good hotel. It's location is deal for a short stay in London. It is near the major sites, such as Buckingham Palace. Within five minutes walk of Green Park tube station and an easy walk along Piccadilly, to the theatres and Soho. The hotel is ever anxious to please. In fact it reminded me of a...

From the moment we walked in and greeted by a friendly face man with fantastic sideburns and top hat, we knew before they even said "welcome home" that we were home. The welcome home was not just words. We had to wait until our room was ready, they brought smoothies for the kids and refreshments for us. In short time...

Our party was a returning group who have always been pleased with the service at The Athenaeum and this occasion proved to be no exception. The format has changed slightly since our last visit but the standard remains high. On this occasion we were well looked after by Stephano and Nicoleta who made sure we received excellent service including checking...

Hotel decor is absolutely fabulous and the location is very convenient. It's a 5 minute walk to Buckingham Palace and the underground is one stop away from piccadilly circus (15min walk), oxford circus, soho and chinatown. The breakfast and drinks are really good. We stayed in a single room with a park view and asked for a cot for our...

I checked in 50 minutes early yesterday to be greeted by friendly, polite staff and advised I'd been upgraded to a suite (which turned out to be the Green Park Suite). The room was beautiful with an amazing four poster bed, a corner window out of the living wall, a desk overlooking Green Park (with a teddy bear called Arthur...

Wow! The afternoon tea is a must do for us when we come to London as we have yet to find an afternoon tea which even comes close to it! This time we decided to have the mad hatters afternoon tea. We were seated and had the menu and the different types of tea explained to us by the lovely...

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
