We stayed here over Christmas and it was an excellent stay. We stayed in the Joseph Smith room on the ground floor. The room was exquisitely furnished and was very large. The bathroom is actually located down a flight of stairs. This might be an issue for some but we found it very charming. The bathroom is large and the...

Nice hotel, I guess for London you have to pay these prices. Nothing about it really went the extra mile to make me give it 5 stars. Disappointed there is no tea or coffee making equipment, or even a free bottle water in the rooms, but they do find space to stuff a basket full of drinks/sweets that you can...

The hotel is tucked away in a small street in trendy Clerkenwell. It manages to pull off the mixture of quaintly old fashioned charming residence with modern efficiency and service - neat trick - and something that a lot of places have not managed. You will feel instantly comfortable and at home in this hotel. Well worth the price.

An extremely nice place to come back to after busy days in the City. Warm and cosy like a countryside guesthouse though walking distance to city business addresses as well as very good restaurants. And an unusually fast wifi.

Convenient for most popular sights, this hotel is charming and peaceful. Beautifully furnished and maintained, the age of the building seems to wrap you in a comfortable blanket. Staff are very helpful and ensure the smooth running of this hotel. Would recommend.

You struggle to believe you are in the heart of London when staying at The Rookery. Charming, quaint, impeccable service and no need to tube/taxi it anywhere as there are a number of great bars and restaurants close by. We asked for a tray with a kettle, milk, coffee and tea bags ready for the morning and this was brought...

We love the Rookery - it is small, quaint and full of history -- -you feel like a member of a family while here as the staff is very accommodating. The rooms have names, not numbers; the honor bar and sitting room are like a welcoming living room after a long day of seeing London. Rooms are decorated with antiques,...

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rookery. Perfectly located and beautiful room. I literally cannot fault any part of it. The staff are so friendly and we got a lovely surprise bottle of champagne for my husbands birthday ! We will always stay here when we return to London in future

This is my fourth or fifth stay here and I honestly am so disappointed if it's fully booked when I have to be in London (which happened recently). I just can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are so fabulous - friendly, helpful, and can't do enough for you. The rooms are amazing, all different and unique, furnished with antiques...

The Rookery is an unusual boutique hotel in a fantastic area of London. We visited for a birthday celebration. The service was outstanding and the overall feel of the hotel is a very cool and stylish Downton Abbey type feel. Even though the hotel was full, it always felt quite, private and exclusive. The rooms are very ornate, and comfortable...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
