We recently stayed at the Ashburn Hotel as our daughter is studying in London for the semester and her school was very nearby. The location is great....very near the Gloucester Rd. tube stop (Piccadilly Line) which gets you anywhere in London very easily. The rooms are very small, as is typical of European hotel rooms, but have everything you need...

Recently stayed six nights at the Ashburn. It is conveniently located on Cromwell Road near the Gloucester Road tube stop (District, Circle, Piccadilly), restaurants, and convenience stores. It is a short walk to the Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museums. My room was ready upon arrival, and it was clean and comfortable. I slept well in the double...

Conveniently located; well kept, comfortable rooms; and, friendly, efficient staff. We have visited London on several occasions and we liked that this hotel is in the museum area and is surrounded by several comfortable pubs and eateries, although I suggest you avoid the Vecchiomondo restaurant over the road from the hotel, see separate review. After a comfortable night we had...

My wife and I stayed for four nights. We were looking for a small romantic hotel. Somewhere that gives the "London Feel" and not an industrial place that can be located anywhere. The Ashburn was a perfect choice. A small hotel located a 5 minutes walk from an underground station, a very friendly neighbourhood with lot's of places to eat...

This was my second stay at the Ashburn Hotel. It is wonderfully located with a tube station two blocks away and several good restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are small, but very clean and very comfortable. The staff is welcoming and helpful.

We decided to take a couple days to ourselves before meeting the rest of the family in Florence for the holidays. Hotel was charming, our room was spacious. I loved the heated bathroom floor, especially right out of the tub! The bed was comfortable and we fell right asleep after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast was convenient and offered...

Our room was lovely with all facilities and 2 TV's, a sofa and great en-suite. The staff were helpful and polite, I left my phone charger behind and they were kind enough to post it back, no extra charge. The continental breakfast was fantastic, great choice, with cooked available at extra cost. However with the choice of breads, toasts, fruit,...

Booked hotel for a surprise weekend away for wife's birthday. Originally chose hotel due to location - walking distance to Royals Albert Hall and literally 2 mins from underground with several lines. I had also read about the service. I notified hotel in advance that it was a special weekend and upon arrival at 11.30am they had already got room...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
