The greeting on arrival at this hotel was one of the friendliest I've experienced! It's small, quiet and very clean. As previous reviewers have mentioned it's the sister hotel of The Phoenix next door, and after 5pm you pick up your key and gain entry etc via their desk. This arrangement sounded like a bit of a faff, but actually...

Basic hotel - affiliated with teh Phoenix a few doors down. Like an overflow building for the phoenix (although somehow not quite). No evening reception (use the Phoenix). If it's a warm night this place is unbearably hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Clean-ish - bathroom was good. Honestly would not look to return if I could go elsewhere.

Lovely setting away from busy Kensington High Street. Service professional and efficient. Food tasty, well served. Good menu selection. Bar service was good, I always like when olive & nuts are served with drinks. Would be happy to recommend.

My friend and I stayed at Kensington Gardens Hotel for 5 nights in the middle of July, and we loved it. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. As it is the sister hotel to Phoenix Hotel (literally right next next door) you do have to go to Phoenix for breakfast...

I stayed here before I booked a room in The Phoenix Hotel (as they call it in this hotel the next door). Both hotels are having the same ownership. This is The Phoenix's sister hotel. I have got this info, because the lady at the front desk told me, I have to pick up the key at the next door...

I really wanted to like this hotel... From the 3 flights of stairs (no elevators, and keep in mind in much of Europe it's ground floor then first floor); no AC (ok, I get it, it's UK); to the parties neighborhood kids have until 3am; it's hard not to complain. When I arrived via Bayswater station (quick and easy to...

Not expensive to be in London close to Hyde Park and Notting Hill. That's good. The room was clean and nice but very small. It is difficult to walk with the suitcase. The worst: no air conditioned, 4th floor with no lift!!, and above all the shower. Even if there is a nice bathtub the water barely trickled out. Difficult...

We normally stay at the sister hotel The Pheonix Hotel next door but were offered accommodation at The Kensington after leaving the booking a bit late! What a treat - lovely rooms and you can still use the bar facilities at the Pheonix. Highly recommended

Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I had a double bed and en suite toilet/shower (Room 14). The room was small and did not have a view (other than that of walls and windows of other rooms/buildings), but from what friends staying at a nearby hotel said, that seems to be par for the course. As...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
