First time to London, accommodation was booked for us. Couldnt be happier (unless I was in a penthouse overlooking the Thames). Close to train, pub, ATM (across road) couple of good restaurants. Hop on/off bus stops outside. Breakfast OK without being outstanding, meals at Polo bar good too. Accommodation comfortable. Easy to get anywhere in London fairly quickly.

We stayed here for one night whilst en route to Heathrow the following day. The hotel is located literally a couple of minutes Gloucester Road underground station which is great for getting around and also a short walk from Kensington High Street. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are well equipped. We stayed in a room overlooking the...

I stayed at Rydges Kensington for three nights on a business trip. First and foremost, the location was fantastic. The tube station is 3 minutes walk away as are shops and some restaurants. The Natural History Museum and other South Kensington attractions are also a within walking distance. The hotel is old but the rooms do not appear too dated...

This hotel is extremely well located: 100m from Gloucester tube station, close to many good restaurants and places to visit. Many alternarive to the hotel breakfast that worth it. The hotel staff was very friendly and upgraded me to a larger room with a beautifull street view and balcony (nb: this was my first stay). I had a large room...

The best thing about this hotel is the excellent location and friendly staff. It is located in a lovely area with plenty of places to eat and a couple of supermarkets all within convenient walking distance. The tube station is less than a 5 minute walk away which we found very convenient as we used it often. We took a...

The decor of them room itself was nice, though for a King Executive it felt incredibly small (fortunately we were upgraded). The area it's located it was great and fairly close to many things like museums and the local tube station. Two disappointing aspects was the continental breakfast, which we pre-paid for and found to be absolutely lacking (literally in...

The hotel room was clean and confortable, quite spacious. The staff was friendly and helful. Location was great, near public transport and plenty of things to do around the area (museums, shops and restaurants). On the downside, the hotel corridors were a bit narrow, bare and windowless, giving it a laberynthic feeling.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
