Stayed here during the Queen's Jubilee. Small rooms(expected), small bathrooms(also expected), and lots of stairs to the top. But the rest makes its completely worth it! The beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast was very good. A nice hot english breakfast every morning. Derek, the host, is a total treat. He is very knowledgeable about London in general, and...

Loved the location - easy walking distance to Victoria Station, Buckingham Palace, restaurants & pubs - wonderful restaurant, Edbury Wine Bar very short walk to the corner. As requested, our room was on the main floor but bedroom & bathroom were one room - absolutely no privacy. Would recommend hanging a rod between the two & hang a curtain for,...

I researched hotels and B&Bs in this area for a 3 night visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, and this seemed to provide the best combination of cost and location. We weren't disappointed. It's a fairly easy walk to the Flower Show, close to Victoria for trains and buses, and even closer to the coach station, yet in a good...

We chose this place as a result of reading about it in Rick Steve's travel guide to London and, as usual, were pleased with the result. Cartref House has an excellent location! It is only a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station so an easy connection to the airport, the "Tube", and the buses. As well, many of the sights...

We stayed here one night based on Rick Steves. I chose it due to close distance (2 minute walk) to Victoria Station. We caught Gatwick Express next morning to fly home having spent 4 days in Paris. The hosts were so friendly! We showed up early from Paris and they stored our bags all day. The rooms were clean and...

The hosts are charming and the breakfast was good. The rooms, however, need some updating. The matresses felt like they'd been around since the War (very uncomfortable) and the plumbing and toilet/shower rooms left a lot to be desired.

The location of the Cartref house is great, it is in a convienent location to the Victoria Coach as well as a short walk to the Victoria Train Station. We stayed for 6 nights and for the 3 of us it was a bit tight. I would rethink staying longer than a couple of nights if you have more than...

We spent three nights at the Cartref House. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. The bathroom was small, but we managed just fine. The very friendly and helpful staff served a lovely English breakfast. The location is excellent providing convenient access to everything one needs. Thanks to Rick Steves (2012) for the recommendation. Cartref House certainly did not...

Cartref House is close to the Westminster area, Victoria train/underground station, and Victoria Coach Station (which was great for me because I ended up using National Express coaches quite a bit). The rooms are small but perfectly adequate, the beds are comfortable, and the area was safe and convenient. I stayed in two different rooms at Cartref House; the first...

We stayed here three nights in a quad room on the first floor. After reading some of the reviews, I was apprehensive about the room size and bathroom facilities. We found the room easily large enough for the four of us, and the bathroom was small but definitely adequate for our needs. The neighborhood that the hotel was in was...

Staying in Belgravia

Neighbourhood Profile
Belgravia
Home to the vast majority of embassies and diplomatic residences in London, sophisticated and upscale Belgravia also boasts a wealth of luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and some of the city’s most stroll worthy lanes. While the prices here are high, taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of picturesque and elegant white stucco houses is free. Hyde Park and the Buckingham Palace Gardens are only a stone's throw away to the north, and some of Europe’s best shopping is nearby as well.
