Me and my family consisting of my husband, my son and I had a great holiday in London last summer. We stayed at Travistock hotel and we were very pleased. A nice hotel close to the tube and central London. The hotel was good, but the breakfast was very repetitive and not particularly inviting. Staff at the hotel were very...

Six of us meet up twice a year for a reunion. We decided on the Tavistock hotel and to be fair the room rate was very reasonable for a central London Hotel. It is odd to pay in advance, but having looked at some of the other guests it seemed like a reasonable idea on the part of the hotel....

everything is good about this hotel (rooms are clean, the staff is nice, it is perfectly located near the Russel Square) except for the breakfast which is not as good (there is not a big selection, french toasts are usually cold, the orange juice has more water that juice). Regardless, if you just want a place to sleep a good...

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at the hotel which was clean, comfortable and offered good value for money for the central location, close to Euston, St Pancras (for the eurostar) and Kings Cross. The hotel is close to the British Museum and Russell Square tube station and a Waitrose in the Brunswick centre. The centre also has a...

I stayed here earlier this week whilst attending a conference. Booking was made by the organisers. Reminded me of the sort of establishment that used to be frequented by commercial travellers (I know I am showing my age here and realise that the world has moved on hugely) also several touring coach parties so the place was busy. You can't...

This is the first time I have been stumped for words. Never before have I had no positive thoughts about a hotel we have stayed in but this place was awful. Where do I start? The rooms were poky, sheets torn and fraying, towels likewise. Don't have a shower unless you want to wash you hair also. Fixed showerhead with...

Beautiful, original Art Deco features in the public areas but the rooms themselves are bland, basic and tatty. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed linen was fresh and crisp. The towels however were small, thin and grey. I had been travelling most of the day and felt very tired when I arrived, so I decided to have a...

Stayed here for a night with friends. It was ok but very run down like it was stuck in the 1970's! it must be pretty typical of the Imperial chain of hotels in London as we have stayed in the President before which was virtually the same. It needs doing up but if you want a reasonably priced budget hotel...

I visited the Tavistock with my mum with two walking sticks and my son with a wheelchair. I'd booked our trip through Thomas Cook using super break. However, we didn't get off to the best of starts when a very curt - foreign (from further time spent here it's apparent there are no English staff) - receptionist, informed us that...

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on Tavistock Square Gardens the hotel offers stunning views as well as offering remarkable value for a historic Bloomsbury hotel. A great choice for business or leisure guests. You will find the Woolf & Whistle - a friendly bar nestled in the Art Deco ground floor of the Tavistock Hotel. Retaining the hotel's original 1920's features with a modern and elegant twist, Woolf & Whistle takes its inspiration from the famous 20th century writer Virginia Woolf, who once lived and worked in the neighbourhood. Providing a welcoming haven to our guests, locals and visitors to the area; our pub serves classic cocktails alongside traditional pub favourites in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. After all, a wise woman once wrote, ‘’One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.’’ The Tavistock is perfectly located for the health club and American style bowling alley as well as the exciting sites of the capital. ... more   less
