Although the reception is several blocks away from Oasis, it wasn't really a problem. Once you've checked in and have your key card, you are literally steps away from the London Bridge tube station (exit at Borough Street), you get free wi-fi at Oasis and The Village, you can do your laundry (between 7-10 am and 4 and 10 pm),...

Everything worked as expected in a Hostel, no problem with linen, cleaness or services. But take care if you have a heavy luggage... you can be at the top as I was and have problems to carry it alone up hundreds of tiny stairs. Ah, the breakfast was really poor. It could have at least one kind of fruit. Anyway,...

I stayed at "Oasis" which is part of this hostel. If you are staying at the main site this may not apply. 1) Schlep. You have to schlep all of your luggage to check in, schlep it back two city blocks to the hostel, and schlep it up a narrow staircase to your 2) cell room. Tiny and dirty. No...

My mother and I recently took a trip to London and as we wanted to do the trip on a budget we booked a hostel instead of a hotel so we could spend more money on attractions! We chose the Oasis hostel as it was female only and promised lots of girlie extras There are 3 St Christopher hostels on...

Bring earplugs to block out the noise from the busy street outside, and be prepared to check in at a different location down the street. Apart from those things, the hostel is simple and will cover your basic needs for a trip to London. I liked that a towel, bedsheets and breakfast were included in the price, even though the...

Worst. I wouldn't pay £5 for a night in this place. It's on such a loud busy street, entrance in a small alleyway took ages to find. Can't change water temperature in the shower and have to continually press the tap because it turns off every 10 seconds. There are 2 toilets, 1 shower and beds and that's it. No...

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm room. The room wasn't very clean and the girls I shared with were eating in the room and left their food/dirty dishes lying around which wasn't pleasant. But with no cooking facilities in the Oasis hostel they didn't want to walk up the road to the main hostel to cook and eat. Showers...

The main reason my friend and i stayed in this hostel was because it was so cheap and female-only. The rooms are incredibly small, and the bunk beds inconveniently close together. These beds are kind of unstable- mine couldn't fit next to the wall so it was on an angle, creating an unnerving gap between the bed and wall. Any...

This hostel, which is an all girls hostel is located directly across from borough market! Which is such an amazing market, delicious smells and meals. And only a couple blocks away from the London bridge tube station. It's great location wise but it's quite an old building. The bathrooms/showers are quite old, need serious renovation, poor sleep due to street...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Oasis in London Bridge is exactly what it sounds like - a protected retreat of tranquillity just for girls, right in the heart of London. This youth hostel shares a check in, reception and breakfast area with the St Christopher's at the Village hostel - so there's plenty of opportunities to meet fellow travellers from all walks off life and you get to make the most of the on-site nightclub, cinema, comedy club, bar and restaurant - also at the Village. Add to that the fact that Borough Market and the Tower of London are on your doorstep from this location, and you're guaranteed to have a good time. When you've finished tasting the many free food samples at the belly bulging Borough Market, an amazing walking route along the River Thames is only minutes away. After you pass The London Dungeons and Sir Francis Drake's ship - the Golden Hinde, this path heads west to take in St Paul's Cathedral, the amazing and free Tate Modern Gallery, the OXO Tower, Gabriel's Wharf, the British Film Institute, the Southbank Centre, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament! Needless to say, you won't be at a loss for something fun to do! This London Bridge location is also a short train ride away from Greenwich with its famous observatory where time is set, the Maritime Museum, the 02 Arena and the Cutty Sark tea clipper!
