On our way back home to Canada we got rerouted through London and had to stay overnight. I chose the hotel as it offered a room with a "city view". It was a costly upgrade over the regular rooms they had available, but thought it would be worth it. Upon arrival we were informed that no city view room was...

The hotel's location is very convenient. You can take the bus, the tube or simply walk around from the hotel to St. Paul's cathedral, down Millennium Bridge to the London Bridge. There was a power and water outage when we checked in, but it was all taken care of and they even offered us a complimentary breakfast at the restaurant, which...

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Bank tube station. I liked the high ceilings, which made the room feel bigger, and the marble bathroom was a good size. The front desk was very helpful: they were able to provide us a room before the official mid-afternoon check-in time and they let...

This hotel is truly a delight! We have stayed in lovely hotels around the world but this place was really special because of the amazing staff! Every morning our day was started off perfectly because of the extra care and kindness of Adina in the restaurant. Her bubbly personality and incredible attention to detail makes her a genuine asset to...

while in the past we stayed in the West End, we decided to stay in The City at Threadneedles. The Pros: close to Bank tube station and a bus stop is right out the front door. Clean, spacious rooms; very friendly and attentive staff, beautiful architecture; Marco Pierre White restaurant. Could hear distinctly the fireworks from County Hall. The Cons:...

I came here with my husband on New Year's Day. The weather was ghastly but once we stepped inside the rain was forgotten after the warm welcome from Reception plus a complimentary glass of fizz. The room was lovely, clean and modern and well appointed. We were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water in our room which was...

There are very few 5 star hotels in the City. This hotel therefore looked promising for a business afternoon tea. It was disgraceful. The service was appalling and the quality of the food anything but five star. It does not compare to other hotels in London so don't waste your money. Our list of complaints includes no list of teas,...

My wife and kids shared two rooms for four nights at this terrific Marriott Autograph Collection property. Rooms are modern and very clean. Morning English breakfast and evening cocktails in the bar were well staffed and enjoyed by the whole family. The entire staff throughout our stay was very friendly and professional. Although the gym is a short (1 min)...

Stayed in two rooms over the Christmas period as we got a very reasonable rate on priceline. Both rooms were clean and well appointed however both were exceptionally hot and stuffy during the night and both beds were not particularly comfortable. Complimentary water and newspapers are a nice touch as is the offer of a welcome drink. The hotel is...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
