This is a hotel that is geared up for the business or academic traveller. The rooms are spacious and set up for studying or working. There was a fridge and microwave in my room which means food expenses can be kept to a minimum. The location is great with many of the most useful tube stations a short walk. I...

We had a gorgeous view of St Paul's from our window - it is almost right next door. A very short walk to the tube right around the corner. The spaces were spotless and well provisioned. Service was excellent. The only reason it gets a 4 and not a 5 is that it was rather plain and the rooms quite...

Nice hotel within the center of London, I stayed here as I was going out with friends in central London. Staff were very attentive upon checking in and checking out. Free water, and coffee available 24 hours a day! Bonus! Room was clean, great nights sleep, mattress was very comfortable with firm pillows. Only problem I did notice in the...

We came here for a return visit as we had a reasonable stay (apart from food) last time. But oh were we disappointed this time. AC pumps out heat, windows didn't open, no spare pillows. I did request and they tell you to get from cupboard on every floor. I checked all 7 does and found not 1. Ice machine...

To be truthful, I have stayed here before and it was good, which is likely why this time was SO disappointing. AC did not work in room which was very stuffy and hot. Though tired and jet lagged, switched rooms and the staff had already turned on the AC for me. Literally fell into bed. Only to be shockingly awoken...

Good hotel central to London attractions very clean and well maintained. Could do with better bar facilities and more space in the lounge. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and available at all times.

Visited London just for a couple of days, did the usual searching for good quality hotels at reasonable prices in good locations and found this hotel. Greeted by very friendly staff who helped us with our first experience of self check in. The room was large enough with all the usual facilities needed for just one nights stay. All in...

Good hotel and great location but fails in a vital aspect, the payment. Since the booking they take a deposit that they refund the day before the check in. Once you check in they charge you another deposit (authorisation) and once you check out they charge you the full room rate but they don´t refund you the deposit which means...

We had a short weekend break in London and spent a night in this hotel (check in Friday). We arrived at noon, staff was happy to store our luggages and meet our request for a quiet room. Our room 332 was at the end of a long corridor facing rear alley which was good size and quiet, also pleased to...

Not quite what I'd hoped for... Stayed here over the London marathon weekend. The room was fine but quite basic and unfortunately the aircon was either hot or hotter so we didn't sleep very well. This was compounded by St Paul's bells chiming every hour. I also paid a premium because of the marathon and it definitely wasn't worth the...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
