Serviced apartments are a good alternative to 2 hotel rooms for a family staying in the capital. Unfortunately, the concept to work, needs far higher quality and service than was experienced here. The only bathroom was ensuite to the bedroom. So the 3 children were forever passing through the bedroom. The door to the bedroom was poorly fitted and not...

Good location in the centre of everything. I thought serviced apartments were a luxury that only business people on expense accounts could afford. But really Grand Plaza is just a hotel made out of flats. It seems to me that it is better to put the whole family in one large flat than to split them up between several rooms...

I was booked into the Grand Plaza for a work trip for two weeks. Upon arrival, I was directed to a suite (though my company had arranged a one bedroom.) I didn't realize this until I had taken the elevator to the fourth floor, and hauled my luggage down a set of stairs, through a narrow hallway, to find a...

Really-I could not believe how misrepresentative the web decriptions and photos of this place are. The apartment (that we had paid large amounts of money for) which we were given on arrival was on a noisy thoroughfare, dark and dingy. Most of these 'apartments' seem nothing like the spacious, light ones seen on website. On complaining the (admittedly helpful) manager...

Very surprised by all the negative reviews of the accommodation on here and I do wonder if the standard varies from apartment to apartment. We have just returned from 4 nights at the grand plaza apartments. We stayed in a 3 bed on the 4th floor. All furniture and facilities in the apartment were of a high standard and it...

despite some of the mixed reviews the GPSA served us well for a family of 5. However note the apartment rooms are not huge and the bed arrangements were a bit makeshift but we got by. No airconditioning can be a concern. Bit mad at reception, they need a bigger front office. Location great with tube stations nearby. Staff all...

My wife and I plus our two teenage children stayed here for six nights and would never stay here again. The apartments are nothing like the website, they are small, grubby and the sofa beds can only sleep one person with any degree of comfort. We booked an executive apartment which turned oy to be a kitchen/dining rooom with a...

Stayed here regularly jan-march 2011 on business- location is hard to beat and in a reasonably quiet road- the place is a little down beat and needs a general lick of paint- apartment sizes vary a lot but all generally are better/ bigger than a hotel room. Most are bigger than some much more expensive luxury studio apartments. I find...

I was a bit worried since this place gets mixed reviews, but we got a lovely room (studio, room 115) on the first floor. The room was facing the street, but since it is a quiet area this was no problem regarding noise from the street. The room had big south facing windows, so lots of light and easy to...

We had a familiy apartment (309) that had 2 separate rooms. Master bedroom with toilet/shower and other room with 2 twin beds and a kitchenette. Only on downside was that the only toilet/shower was accessible on thru master bedroom. The location of the hotel is very handy near Bayswater and Queensway tube station, so we used the tube a lot...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Grand Plaza apartments give you the independence and catering flexibility of your own home together with the comfort and service of a 4* hotel. Think of us as your home, but with cleaning, catering, porters and reception staff thrown in. Serviced apartments are the new direction for the hotel industry. They provide a ready made home rather than a ready made room. Each apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen. You choose whether to enjoy your own home cooking or try the Grand Plaza Breakfast or visit one of the myriad of restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel (or heat up a takeaway!) Grand Plaza is the largest Hotel/Apartment complex in Bayswater. We won the 2009 award for best serviced apartments in London as a result of votes from the readers of Business Destinations Magazine. We accommodate more people each day (tourist, leisure, romantic and business) than any other Serviced Apartment Hotel in the area.We are located in the centre of the West End overlooking the precise type of garden square which Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts climbed into in the Golden Globe nominated film, Notting Hill! We look forward to providing you with a home in central London. ... more   less
