I first stayed at Merlyn Court in 2005 and again the first week of September this year. It's a lovely old world sort of place and I don't think that you could find a better value anywhere in London proper. The rooms are eclectically furnished, each one has it's own personality. They are cozy and warm, and you can actually...

It was a nice hotel, helpful people, but there wasn't a lift and walking upto the 4 floor with a toddler and being pregnant was a task, the room was really nice and clean though we didn't have a tv or tea and coffee making facilities. The shower was lovely, easy to get to the right temp.

London is not cheap. So if you want a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel that is very conveniently located to an underground station (Earl's Court), then Merlyn Court is a good choice. Very friendly, helpful staff; rooms are comfortable and clean. This is not the Hilton by any means, but it's a matter of context--convenience and affordability--and the Merlyn scores well...

Downstairs en suite room definitely better than upstairs. Wi-fi available only on 2 chairs in downstairs hallway. Nice people. Need to upgrade the beds and rooms. Location couldn't be better. They could also do with some heavier drapes. Tough when the sun comes pouring in at 4am don't expect an English breakfast- crispy toast and jam, coffee and tea covers...

Merlyn Court is a small and cozy hotel we definitely look forward to come back to. It is very simple, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small but not in a bad way, since we found it was the best bathroom we had in Europe and it fitted well a family of 4. The shower was really nice, with good...

There were 3 of us which can be very expensive in London, but this triple was reasonable. We did have to climb many stairs to get to our room, with large suitcases. Room was comfortable. Breakfast is just toast. Location is nice area and close to museums.

I've spent five nights at the Merlyn in october 2013 with my mum and we had a nice experience. Extremely close to Earl's Court station and easy to reach from the airport, in a quiet place, close to pubs and restaurants, ensuite room a bit small but extremely clean and warm, breakfast good but a bit poor, staff always friendly...

It seems that reviews on this hotel are very mixed depending on what you want from a hotel. I went for a two-day, one-night stay with my 5-year old son to visit some London museums with him and, next time I go back to London I will definitely try to stay at the Merlyn Court Hotel again. The room we...

Reading the previous reviews I can only concur with their opinions. The place is a beautiful old building. The double beds are small the decor from the 50's but it is very clean and close to Earls Court and London itself, so it served its purpose. No TV's so a good quiet night sleep. You can find cheaper places in...

Recently stopped in this Hotel, my advice is DON'T, ok, it's in London and its priced keenly, but, if you want to stay in a Hotel that looks like it was last decorated just after the Blitz, then this is for you, bedding looked like it was from the 1930s towels would be better used to rub down rusty metal,...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
