You have to know that The Main House is not a hotel ! If you want stay in a London Hotel, go and look for one, but look carefully. If you‘re like me, who always wanted to live in Notting Hill, but never had the chance – then you‘re at the right place at The Main House. I‘ve never wanted... More

For years I had been trying to book into the Main House, only to be rebuffed each and every time. “Darn darn, booked already? Ok I’ll try somewhere else. If you have a cancellation though…” They never did. But this year I was so ahead of myself – and everyone else apparently – that I finally got in. Hurrah! And... More

...with my stay at the Main House. I am a musician, and have traveled the world extensively for the past 13 years. I've stayed in every manner of accommodation, from the world's finest hotels, to remote treehouses and bungalows. It is rare to come across a place filled with this much charm, attention to detail, comfort, and warmth. And the... More

You will need to allay your initial shock, on arrival at the Main House, that the hallowed tradition of the Big English Breakfast has been given the elbow here. Caroline has decided that the key issues these days are space and privacy rather than cholesterol and has created a B&B with massive, classical en-suite bedrooms but no public areas. The... More

The Main House is an excellent place to stay when on vacation in London. The rooms are big, with nice wooden floors (not the wall to wall carpet that many hotels in London are so "famous" for). There are many nice touches with nice furniture. The high ceilings help too. Caroline, the owner, and her small and dedicated staff do... More

Me, my friend Dorte and my almost three-yearold daugter stayed for 4 days at The Main House in late november - just as Christmas was peeking out. We were on a part business part leisure travel getting material to our book about traveling with children. We went to London a year a go to, so this was our second trip... More

My wife and I stayed at the Main House during a 10-day sight-seeing visit to London. We were looking for a place that was unique, had plenty of room to spread out and was reasonably priced. The Main House fit the bill perfectly. Our bedroom and bathroom were both spacious and uniquely/tastefully decorated. The staff — Caroline and Anna —... More

Wow! What a find! An oasis of comfort, calm, quality and style in the heart of Notting Hill. From the genuine warm welcome on our arrival after 23 hours of travelling and throughout our stay Caroline was a pleasure to deal with and made us feel special and completely at home. The Main House offered a quiet and spacious place to stay as my wife and I visited London for the first time. We stayed a total of 8 nights and the place truly felt like we found our home away from home. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable. Location was amazing - close enough to the Underground... Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
