I was told when I enquired that I'd ended up in the only room in the hotel with a bath. Fortunate, as showering in it requires you to stand with your knees bumping gently against the large integrated taps built inexplicably above the side of the bath. The shower head holder is fixed too close to the ceiling to direct...

Travelled with 9 wk baby. Room huge and immaculate, staff couldn't do enough for us it was fantastic. 5 min walk from tube and fantastic sleep. Better room, value and service than a 5 star hotel we stayed in the 2 nights before.

If you have a room at the back of the hotel be prepared to be woken up early in the morning by the train noise which is horrendous. Having spent a celebratory evening with friends and not going to bed until 2am - a 5.45am train passing by was not appreciated.

Even though we were part of a large group of people the staff here were very friendly and tolerant. Even at 2am in the morning nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are clean and comfortable, just what you would expect from a budget hotel. There is always plenty of hot water for a shower and the rooms...

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who were always helpful and friendly. The location was quite good, too. I asked months in advance to be on the "quiet" side of the hotel. Which, it must be said, wasn't very quiet. You could still hear the trains, though it wasn't all that bad. Worse was the sheer amount...

The noise from outside the hotel was horrendous, the windows didn't seal properly and I couldn't get fresh air due to the noise outside. I asked to move and the staff said the rear of the hotel was worse! I would definitely NOT stay here again even if it was free.....

A very clean hotel with all we needed. Extreemly friendly and helpful staff who were always there to greet us what ever time we arrived back to the hotel. Close to tube stations for getting around London and just a short walk from the waterfront which made a walk in the evening very romantic.

Good hotel, not too far from underground stations, however the hotel has a railway line running alongside it, therefore it is very noisy. The other side of the hotel away from the railway line is also quite noisy with delivery trucks, but not as bad. Shame as it's a nice Travelodge with friendly staff.

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
