The pics posted on their site show only the better standard of rooms, and the better standard shower and toilet facilities. The basic room is so bad you have no room to swing a cat or even a kitten. Rough toilet and shower facilities.
We were perfectly located just in front of the Kings Cross station but the room was pretty poor.
The bedding and the ground were a bit dirty, the bathroom very small, the alarm rang at 8am without any explaination.

Just wanted to add a review that wasn't all negative.
I booked to stay two nights at The Excelsior Hotel. After seeing the reasonable prices for London (everywhere seems to be at least £100 per night in a half decent location)

This hotel isn't bad for the money, the location is good. The rooms were clean.
My only criticism would be that having a room on the top floor meant it was like a suana. Try and avoid this if possible.
This hotel is very close to Kings Cross station about 3 mins walk, but in a quite residential area. Rooms reasonable size, bathroom small but adequate for needs, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast very good was expecting just a continental but full english was offered....More
