the location close by the train station and walking distance to the city centre. the room size and cleanliness (2persons room) was fine. The bathroom a bit too small and the curtain kept attaching to me when I take a shower.

12 bed room and only one bathroom"container" might not be the nicest and most comfortable option... maybe make another bathroom available all day long. curtains at bed were nice to have some privacy. check in 24h is also quite good option. unfortunately.there is no common room available during day. maybe open the breakfast room so people can at least make... Hi Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us here in York. Bathrooms within the hostel are designed on the same type you might find on a cruise ship. The hostel is within one of Yorks Grade One listed Georgian Period Mansion houses which liimited building new rooms inside others. There are three common rooms within the... More

Hi. Safestay is a hostel and not a hotel, and not advertised as a hotel. Our breakfast is a continental breakfast that has freshly baked, Pain au chocolat, croissants, gammon ham, cheddar cheese, freshly boiled eggs, bloomer bread, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, fruit juice, teas and coffee. Priced at £3.50. There is no lift, but as the building is a... More

Stayed here for 5 days 4 nights in Safestay York as a Solo Female Traveler on June 2016. PROS: 1. Location wise, this hostel is centrally located. Only 15-20 minute walk from York Train Station. No need to take a cab unless you have a big luggage since, the way from York to this hostel is quite complicated or you... More

Hi Thank you for the extensive review of our hostel here in York, and glad to see that you enjoyed your stay. A few items I would like to clarify. Check in is from 2pm in the afternoon, and breakfast is not £5.00. If you pay on arrival or the night before it is £3.50 and on the day it... More

A great stay, location in york ideal for all activities in city, good service and welcoming staff, had a good warm feel. Worth the money good value, reasonable prices on group bookings. Only problem would be rooms on street side of building could be noisey with its location on micklegate. Overall a good stay.

Stayed here for 4 days. Staff was very friendly & helpful & it's close to the rail station (5 min walk). The neighborhood is good - nothing sketchy; only a few quiet pubs around and some shops. Felt safe there & york felt safe generally. Bathroom was way too small though!! Breakfast buffet pricy (4 euro) For cereals, toast, and... More

Staff could be less business like and more friendly and social with the guests. Breakfast is ordinary for £4 and already cleared away by 9.20am. Should continue til 10.00. Smoking area is unsocial. Too much lighting.

The staff were very friendly & welcoming especially as we were a stag party. Let us drop our bags off early so we didn't have to carry them until check in. We booked 2 dorms & they were clean & comfortable.
