Follow my recent visit with my girlfriend although I'm not a regular review writer I had to write a review this time. The initial look is very nice as you walk into the building but that's about it. The room had dirty floors and walls, the sink was blocked, the cheap electric heater stopped working after a short while, the...

Never ever in my life have I stayed anywhere so awful. We paid £150 for 2 nights stay which didn't even include breakfast. We also booked here as we were told the hotel had car parking. We get there to discover the "car park" only holds 5 cars so we have to park a 10 minute walk away on a...

I'm currently sat in room 241 of the Elmbank Hotel, which I booked in good faith for a weekend away with some friends. The smell when we walked in was rather concerning. I later discovered that there's a hotel cat. I love cats and have three at home but mine don't smell like that and I'd never let them roam...

It would seem this hotel is using photographs of it's refurbished or new rooms to promote itself, when in reality you are more likely to be put in one of their standard rooms. Which are horrific. We were in room 223. Cramped, damp, no telephone, large window in the bathroom which wasn't frosted, but instead had a very flappy pink...

The Elmbank hotel offers decent prices for a visitor who likes to stay nearby the York historical town. The rooms are basic with a bathroom, TV and coffee making equipment. The old building is fascinating and nicely decorated. English breakfast provides plenty of choices and was of good quality. The hotel is within a short walk from the railway station.

Stayed at the Elmbank with my partner on a brief visit to York. Chose the hotel for its location and parking, but hotel was tired and shabby. Room ok, bathroom poor- cold shower and was a trickle. Very disappointed, won't stay again.

Following a very good group dinner meal here, a month or so ago, we decided to try a weekday evening meal for a smaller group of four. The food was excellent; well cooked and presented and served reasonably quickly and at very competitive prices. There were only two small problems - the waiter would constantly refer to us as "guys"...

Stayed here for two nights. It is amazing. The hotel is so cosey and has a periodic feel to it. The little cat (Betsy) in the hotel adds to its appeal. Rooms are large and cleaned out daily. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Location is a short walk from the main centre where u can find the jorvick...

The hotel inside has an old fashioned charm to it but that's where the charm ends. The infrastructure is not good and the place could do with an update, the windows were single glazed and they could do with a lick of paint at the very least, the shower pressure was very weak to the point where you don't feel...

Where do I start! I was thoroughly disappointed with my stay here. There is a very small car park, enough for 5 cars but some on street parking. We checked in with ease, polite helpful staff. The social area was actually lovely with big chesterfield sofas and a roaring fire. However our room was very outdated, nothing like the photos...
