You can travel between York and Hull quite simply by either train or bus, the train being more expensive but quicker, taking roughly an hour to get into the centre of York. To get to Heathrow it's pretty much the same options, you can take a train to Kings Cross (just over 2 hours) then cross London to Heathrow on the underground. Coaches do also run to London but are again significantly slower but cheaper. There is a third alternative of flying from Leeds-Bradford to Heathrow but this is probably overly expensive and not that much quicker than taking the train once the time taken to check in is taken into account.
You can take guided bus tours of the surrounding area or also use public transport (buses and trains) to visit the Moors and Yorkshire Coast. We are unsure of when you are travelling but the guided bus tours tend to run from Spring to late Autumn and can be joined just a short walk from the hotel.
