We had a hotel booked for Sunday but decided to go a day early and make a weekend of the trip, found Holmwood house last minute on trivago and wow! can't speak for the house itself as we had a room in the courtyard, very clean nice and quiet with a real ale pub just around the corner, fab breakfast,...

Arrived later in day but received a lovely welcome. I can't do many stairs so they immediately offered me a lower room. Breakfast was good but slightly hectic but the service was excellent. Ideally situated for york centre. Only downer was the noise in the early morning being next to kitchen.

This is a really nice place to stay. Check in was very easy and the person booking us in was very friendly and informative. We stayed in a room on the top floor, which gave a good view of the railway station and part of the city. We had achy calves by the time we got to the room but...

We stayed at this bed and breakfast in York for a couple of days. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout, with quaint rooms that are warm and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and happy to look after their guests. It is only a short walk to the city walls and as the weather was lovely and warm, surprisingly for...

My son booked us into this Guest House as a late Christmas present for one night & then my partner paid for the second night, also as a late Christmas present. It is situated about 10 mins walk from Micklegate Bar & has its own car park which holds about 8 cars. This is a real bonus as once you...

I will start with what some people will consider negatives: 1. Duvet seemed to be made of synthetic fibres so got very hot during the night. Duvet cover is also open ended so duvet does not stay in place. 2. Toiletries were not replenished when the room was clean (although this was rectified straight away when I made the staff...

Last minute decision to stay in York after seeing our son at Uni due to poor weather forecast. Found via Booking.com and close to our son's place. Arrived and provided with car parking at the adjoining Holgate Bridge. Had room 11 on top floor, good views of Minster - sadly we had sleet and rain so York not at its...

The place in general is tired and unattractive! Our room, described as one of the new rooms, according to the lady at reception, was in the next building across the car park. Room number 5 was on the top floor! As we walked in we were greeted by a horrible smell of dirty pillows, dirty carpet and the room was...
