For a perfect location, this caravan club site has got it all! Just a pleasant riverside stroll into town where you can find the best array of bars in the U.K.! Very popular so difficult to get in but well worth the effort when you do!

Took our motorhome to Rowntree Park site. Our 1st visit to this campsite and we were very impressed. Excellent site, spotlessly clean facilities, lovely staff and a fantastic location being so close to York. Will definitely be visiting again

Came for 3 day on Sunday, very busy at weekends, book early ! Amazing site with the amenity block built on stilts to avoid flooding and markers outside to show why ! Close to the city for easy walking, and a few restaurants and a pub on the road behind the site, as usual everywhere is spotlessly clean, Well recommended,...

The site is in a perfect position for visiting York. Town centre is literally a few minutes walk away. Site kept in the usual great standard, but can be subject to flooding. Always difficult to get in here as it is very busy - suggest you book early.

Stayed here a few times and it's always well looked after. Friendly staff. Just wished we could manage to book in more. It's so popular and gets booked in advance very quickly. Toilets very clean and warm.

Stayed here a couple of nights before Christmas with my parents. One of the more expensive sites, charging for the camper, additional car and each adult. Toilets could have done with more frequent checking but only because apparently some women have no manners whatsoever!! Lovely site otherwise, perfect location for walking straight into York for the day. Only downside is...

Always a hello from the wardens and it is an immaculately clean site. Toilet and showers clean. 5 min walk to city centre. Great site. For being close the city it is suprisingly quiet. Highly recommend.

Located in walking distance of the city centre; so good location for a sightseeing trip to York., Very crowded but one would expect that in an urban site. Site was full and all booked up so could only stay the one night; so would suggest if you are wishing to visit York book well in advance. There is a park...

This site is excellent! Although it's a very busy site because of its location, the wardens work hard to accommodate the amount of arrivals and departures on a daily basis. The facilities are extremely well kept, and I felt the staff go above and beyond in what they do in order to help people the best they can. Do not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A popular holiday destination, York Rowntree Park Caravan Club Site offers level pitches located on the banks of the River Ouse. Some pitches have attractive hedging and glades which provide not only a scenic treat but also ensure your privacy. The caravan park is within easy walking distance of the beautiful and historic city of York and also makes for an excellent base from which to explore the Yorkshire area. York itself has so much to see and do that you'll find the time can slip by all too easily. Using a pedestrian gate at the back of the site leads you to a parade of local shops, including a fantastic fish and chip shop with cafe, Indian and Thai restaurants and numerous takeaways as well as a selection of Cafe's, food and convenience shops. Although the site is near to the city centre, it is peaceful and has a lovely rural feel, with pleasant walks down the side of the river to the Millennium bridge and more. York Rowntree Park Caravan Club Site is ideal for those wishing to visit York Minster - the largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Do include a walk to the city's medieval walls and the Shambles to get a feel of the old city with its medieval timber framed houses. You may also stumble across Snickelways of York which is a collection of small street and footpaths. Why not walk down Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate: a street of historical interest which is the shortest street in York with the longest name. Whilst staying at York Rowntree Park why not call in at the many real ale pubs, The York Dungeons, Jorvik Viking Centre and take a time-car, which will transport you back to the city's distant past. Should you have any budding archaeologists in the family, visit the ARC at St Saviours Church and train enthusiasts of all ages won't want to miss the award-winning National Railway Museum. The site went through some exciting changes over winter 2014/15. The warehouse that lined one side of the site was demolished was converted into pitches, while the riverside annex was closed. The newly developed area contains 16 new hardstanding pitches which are a combination of awning and non-awning. There is also a new dedicated service point for this area and TV booster system added to the bollards. The development work this winter means that all visitors will now be together on one site. Please note that we can accommodate up to five 1 or 2 man tents for backpackers and cyclists. There is no parking available for cars or motorbikes. ... more   less
