My partner and I spent five days in York during a post-Christmas winter trip to England, and let me tell you that our stay at Conway Cottage (a sub-unit of Barbican House) was by far the best self-catering experience we have ever had. The cost was quite reasonable, especially with the favorable exchange rate nowadays, and the owner, Adrian Bradley,...

Fantastic bed and breakfast in a great location at the end of Fossgate. Short walk past an eclectic mix of bars, cafes and shops to the centre of York. Great host, off street parking, exceptional cleanliness, and complimentary sherry to set you on your way. Adrian was good enough to let us leave our car in the car park all...

We stayed here for 2 nights as our first time visiting York, what a lovely B and B, host were very helpful and charming, the ensuite room we had (room 7) was spotlessly clean with everything you could need and more, very luxurious, we was downstairs and right on main road but unless you are a light sleeper the traffic...

Ann & Adrian were really welcoming. Our room was good and the bed so comfortable. Nice touches- decanter of Croft sherry, lovely toiletries and a tray full of coffees, teas and biscuits as well as bottled water replenished each day. Breakfast cooked, by himself, delicious. Really close to the Barbican theatre so perfect for our gig there

A couple of days ago I stayed in a Hilton hotel in London for twice the price. This beats the hotel hands down. Clean, characterful room with everything you need. The little things make a difference - there were several types of tea, free sherry and biscuits as well as plentiful tissues (I arrived with a heavy cold) The shower...

Being fairly frequent visitors to York as my son lives there, we've tried many hotels both budget and top end. I found the Barbican House on Tripadvisor and thought the prices were great and knew the location was fairly central, plus photos looked good and reviews were great so we booked a weekend stay. Now we're not really B &...

Visited here several days, using this as a base for seeing York as well as day trips to surrounding dales and moors. Easy accessibility to Walmgate and the wall walk. Reasonable walk to minster and that area. Great pub recommended by hosts around the corner. Thoughtful touches in room with plenty of supplies and nice toiletries. Appreciated the bottled water...

Its a challenge trying to find accommodation in a city that you have never visited before but we chose right with Barbican House. Its extremely convenient to the walled city, just a delightful ten minute walk through a nearby "Bar" or gate. On the way, one passes 14th century buildings, you walk across a humpbacked bridge over a beautiful river...

We felt very welcomed into the Barbican House B&B. We stayed on a bank holiday weekend and the pricing was no different!:) (unlike some B&B) We honestly couldn't fault our stay, loved the fan on the ceiling. Very clean. Great selection of tea, coffee hot chocolate and biscuits. Great location if you don't mind a little walk into town. You...
