I saw on a previous review that No.21 has been standing since 1840. That's impressive. It's set on a quiet street in the St Mary's area of the city, about a ten minute walk from the Shambles and five minutes from the station (ask for directions for a short cut). The hallway as you enter is classic and gorgeous. The...

We really enjoyed our stay at No. 21. Our host couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfasts were just fantastic - a quality full English and the best pancakes I've ever had. Lovely comfortable room, beautiful modern bathroom and wifi included. You'll need to book in advance but definitely worth it. We'd definitely go back.

A beautifully presented b&b with easy walking access to the city centre. The room is spotlessly clean with everything you would want. The best breakfast by far we have had in the last 24 days. The fresh fruit and homemade bread particularly fantastic. Simon gave us great advice on what to do in York. His attention to detail is faultless....

Stayed here for 3 nights 16-18 Sept. This is my 2nd stay here, but the first time under the current landlord. This B&B is a relatively easy walk from York Station; there are some steps to get up/down the footpath over the River, and a few steps to climb just before the B&B, but everything else is mostly flat ground...

Good location for central York. Local map provided. Comfy calm room. Fabulous breakfast. New Zealand chef. Simon coordinates everything well, parking etc. Warm welcome and very accommodating when a few guests wanted to stay in the area for more sightseeing on their last day. Staff very friendly and helpful. No lounge area. Poor tv reception in room 9. Wifi has...

We had a very enjoyable stay , owners were so welcoming , food was great , the whole accommodation has been well thought out. Highly recommend as a perfect place to stay when visiting York. Central location makes it accessible to walk from the station and to all the attractions.

I stayed here overnight on a business trip. A lovely, well-positioned and quiet guesthouse with warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are well equipped and I loved the attention to detail including the homemade biscuits! I was served breakfast out of hours as I had an early train and was even given a doggy bag to take with me for...

Good afternoon Ernie We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us at No.21. We are a Victorian Terraced Building built circa 1840 and are limited in size by the age & make up of the building which - we feel - is full of charm & character. The Room you had booked through Trip Advisor is...

Stayed here for a night, and it was brilliant. Simon was a lovely host, and the room and breakfast were great. Sitting at breakfast and already recommending my friends to stay here! It is close to everything, easily within walking distance of everything to see and do. The service we received here was first class. Thanks Simon!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
No. 21 York is a multi award winning Bed & Breakfast, offering a choice of nine clean & comfortable rooms, a warm and homely welcome as well as a great Yorkshire breakfast - all within a stone's throw of York City Centre. Built circa 1890, the B&B is a Victorian Terrace that has a history of offering accommodation and breakfast to guests since 1966, we will continue in this tradition of offering homely hospitality in some of the finest bed and breakfast accommodation in York. Our ethos is that we support our local & we are fiercely proud of our local Yorkshire produce, supplies & furnishings. Where possible, everything we do is a celebration of York and Yorkshire. York happened to us by happy coincidence & we love York and the surrounding countryside and it's a pleasure for us to share our "local" knowledge of what's on offer in our amazing city and - as it is fondly known - "God's own county" as well as how to get around & about. We look forward to welcoming you to our home & hope to see you sometime soon. ... more   less
