Just returned from a short trip to York with my sister-law. Stayed at Briar Lea overnight. Very comfortable twin room on the top floor. Breakfast was excellent, good start to the day. The owner Norma was very friendly & helpful. An easy walk from the railway station. Lovely riverside walk into the city. Will definitely stay at Briar Lea again.

We were in York for a wedding at the nearby museum gardens and the B&B was a really nice place to stay. The owners were friendly and helpful, the room nice size and clean. The breakfast was filling and tasty. The only small criticism would be the shower was a little cramped but overall, a good value for money option...

Lovely upper floor family room accommodated our family of four nicely. The en suite bathroom was modern and convenient. This property is located an easy walk from the train station (over the rail/pedestrian bridge) and the town center. The breakfast room is very pleasant and the full English breakfast was a great start to our day. The vegetarian option was...

Thank you for your kind review. You mention in your review that one of the beds was a "cot" . A cot is a small put me up bed, in American translation. Our guests will be pleased to know that this bed has been replaced by a proper divan bed, and will of course be more comfortable. We have also...

We stayed here for two nights on 22/3/14 with friends. Really really nice place to stay, great hosts ( Nigel & Norma ) and our room was spotless. Great breakfast to start the day off, we were told the way into town and to be honest you are less than a ten minute walk either by the river or by...

Thank you. We always enjoy reading the reviews sent by guests who have enjoyed their stay at Briar Lea. York is a fantastic place to visit, for a day or two, or as a base for a Yorkshire holiday, and if they like the place they are staying at, it goes a long way towards an enjoyable break.

Our second holiday break at this guest house, and will defiantly return again. Owners very friendly and helpful, can check in at mid day instead of the usual 2pm - 3pm, so more time to spend in York. Only a 10 min walk to the city centre, either through a park or along river side.

We received a warm welcome, weren't overly fussed over so able to settle in nicely. We were told the easiest ways to get back into town and despite it looking a decent walk, it turned out to be really close, especially taking the shortcut through the museum gardens. Room was at back, very comfy with everything we needed for our...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased you found everything to your liking except the guests next door who were noisy and thoughtless. Sadly we were only aware of this next morning, and the guests had left. This is a rare occurrence at Briar Lea, particularly as we don't accept group bookings, including stag...

My husband and I spent 1 night at Briar Lea. It was a short walk into York either by the river or by the road. The room was lovely and warm with a welcoming tea/coffee making tray. Had a great stay at Briar Lea Guest House. Cheerful and friendly hosts and the location was perfect for a 10 minute walk via the Museum Gardens or along the river. York itself stands as one of the top places to visit in the North.
