Stayed for 4 nights with 9 other cyclists. Pros - friendly & unobtrustive staff, great breakfasts, big car park, no fuss with the bills, clean & tidy, easy access late at night, short walk into town. Cons - decor is a bit tired, the road in front is a bit busy, residents lounge/bar not up to much. Great for cycling,...

Handy for the railway station and for the city centre and easy to reach from the ring road. Some parts a bit tired but excellent overall and the breakfast was splendid

The hotel was quiet in spite of being on the main road, clean and tidy with all the basics needed, parking to the rear, buses passing the door, ideal for visiting Oxford City.

An affordable option in a fine location for anyone who likes ready access to transport and doesn't might a few minutes' stroll into the center. The accommodations are basic and what you'd expect for the price. The staff is warm and helpful, and the full breakfast generous.

Very nice place to stay, however, if you have biggish bags there isn't an elevator so if you have a room up some stairs you will be having to cart them up yourself. Other than that the host was friendly and helpful and all the rooms were nice, the right size and cheerful. The breakfasts were good. The pity was...

We were invited to a wedding in Oxford last month and decided to make a weekend out of it, therefore we were looking for a conveniently located hotel, close to the train station and within walking distance from the city centre. Accommodation in Oxford is quite expensive so it took us a while to find something within our budget. The...

I wasn't expecting much from the River Hotel - I simply needed somewhere close to the station to rest my head for a couple of nights while on business. I was slightly unnerved by the lack of online booking, worrying it might be some incredibly old-fashioned, chintzy hostel. Well, the decor is a bit tired, but the hotel was spotlessly...

The decor is certainly dated and the place is rather frayed around the edges, but that's not important. Everything was kept clean and tidy. Staff were attentive and helpful. The small scale and family ownership made the place feel decidedly cosy. The complimentary breakfast consisted of both a decent continental buffet and table-served Full English, which was very tasty. Tourists...

We stayed for 4 nights in a double room without breakfast. The hotel is located near the train station and just about 10-15 min walk to the city center. The prize for one night was a little cheaper than the other hotels in Oxford. The room was functional, warm and quiet, but nothing special. The bathroom was clean and the...
