Fantastic little hotel just a few minutes away from the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself had plenty of space and all amenities (a fridge, coffee, machine, kettle, iron and press etc). Floorboards were a little creaky but to be expected in an old building. I have noticed complaints about outdoor noise in some...

Should have realised it would be noisy, there was a pair of earplugs on the bedside cabinet. Dont bother with the breakfast, I had one here on another occassion and it must be one of the worst in Reading, plastic tasting sausages, cheap beans, you know the type :) If you want breakfast, walk over the bridge to Starbucks So...

Thank you for your recent comments I am sorry that on this occasion you were disappointed with your stay and that you did not find the service at our hotel up to your expectations.

I stayed here for one night and upgraded on the day to an executive room. The room was a good size with tall ceilings but it felt pretty drab for almost 120 pounds. I think the hotel has missed a trick in not having these rooms look more "quaint" given the marketing is based on the building being so old....

Really bad experiance, I expect better from the chain I have been a loyal customer (Silver accor card holder). Had to stay in a single room due to high occupancy but had dirty ripped linen in one of the beds, really noisy neighbours who where screaming and banging where I complianced numerous times to no effect until I banged on...

Mixed feelings about this place. Pros: comfy bed, good room service menu choice, great location for shopping (if like me your not driving), good size room Cons: absolutely freezing bathroom with no source of heating at all, in winter this is unacceptable No lift

Thank you for your recent review and confirm I was pleased to learn you thought our beds were comfy and that the room service menu had a good selection to choose from. I do agree the hotel has an excellent location and not far from both the train and bus station. I can only apologise your bathroom was a little...

I returned to the Mercure George Hotel in Reading after several years, and this time I was on my own and booked into a single room. The room wasn't the biggest I've ever stayed in, nor was it the smallest, so no complaints there from me. The bed was nice and comfortable, there was good storage space, and that TV,...

This is a Period Building, one of the oldest hotels in Reading I gather. There was no warning about windy, steep stairs on the 5th floor and no lift. Not much fun with heavy luggage. The single room was very small but comfortable. For a central location, you can't really beat it. The pub grub was also reasonable. For £40,...

This hotel is quaint and unusual excellent position in the centre of reading and all its facilities. Quiet rooms with no noise issues. Room was good clean and well decorated. Located right in the center of Reading, handy for the Oracle shopping center and a short walk from the train station.
