A cheap but comfortable place to stay, just at the border of the town (40 min walk to the city center, but well served by buss line). Very quiet, large guest car park. Breakfast buffet poor, bit kitchen for full English breakfast is prompt and good. Rooms are ok even if not very recently renovated

I was booked in by work so I knew it wasn't going to be the most expensive hotel in town. On first impressions it looked a bit dated and run down but inside it's OK. Reception and bar service was friendly and efficient. Note: this is the brick building NOT the "manor house" looking place next to it. The rooms...

Room was big and one of the few rooms they have that smoking was allowed in. Unfortunately the curtains didn't close properly and the streetlamp shone directly on the bed so a little hard to get off to sleep.

I had the experience of staying here over a 4 month period (weeknights), due to work commitments. Overall I found the staff to be helpful and friendly over that time. I stayed in quite a few of the rooms, from the comfortable ones along the outside (both sides) to the noisy ones at the back .... ventilation I assume for...

A last minute business trip left me in Reading at this hotel. On a plus note, spacious and clean room...everything worked. The hotel feels somewhat soulless and empty. Almost Soviet in feel. The bar was ok. Limited beer choice. Staff nice enough. If you have a low expectation, then go for it. The bed was compfy and clean. I was...

I was pleasantly surprised by public areas but dissapointed by disabled facilities in bedroom. I had informed them I was in a wheelchair but bathroom not adequate at all. I did complain and got a night free but had no washing possible. Should not say they were disabled friendly.

We actually booked into the adjoining Lawn Hotel, but on arrival found that establishment closed and a sign directing us to the Parkside instead where our booking had been transferred. The helpful young man at reception advised us that the hotels were under the same ownership, but that Parkside was the better hotel! However, we found the bed in our...

This hotel is very poor and far from value for money. It felt more like a £30 hostel than a £70+ a night hotel. Car park is small and forces overflow into building site-esque car park. Check-in was ok but didn't provide any information just gave the room key and said 3rd floor. Room - had a rattling/ventilator sound which...

We found staff friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. We did notice a slight smell of smoke but not anything bad. It was lovely to be able to stay with our dog in tow and he was made to feel welcome. It was good to have a big park so close by which we made the...
