I had been meaning to try the Cross Scythes for a while, knowing that they'd secured the services of renowned chef Simon Ayres, so thought a surprise meal and night away for my wife's birthday would be the perfect excuse. I checked in early to set the bedroom up with balloons and cards before going to collect my wife. The...

We met here for a family breakfast get-together and had a wonderful time. The warm, relaxed atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was even better. The full English breakfast and the vegetarian version were both beautifully cooked, whilst the milk poached haddock was a delight. We were all thoroughly delighted, and will dine here again. It's a great location for...

What a fantastic stay we had at the Cross Scythes, my wife and I stayed for five nights and was joined by my son and daughter for two of those nights. Stuart and the team were just amazing, the service, food and bar facilities first rate. Nothing was too much trouble and they allowed us to choose from different day...

Literally out for a drive and decided we wanted Sunday lunch. What a find. Friendly staff and delicious food. The roast beef Sunday lunch was the best I've had. Treacle sponge with "real" custard an absolute must. Great place with great food will definitely be returning. Thanks Cross Scythes : )

All the staff we came into contact with were exceptionally pleasant, friendly, approachable and helpful. Our room (room 3) was very clean and comfortable with ample storage space and...

We're regulars, so it was natural that when we were looking for somewhere for a family to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary with us, we thought of the Cross Scythes. There were 12 of us altogether. 7 members of the party stayed overnight at the Scythes; they were all said the rooms were very comfortable and were excellent value. The...

My wife and I visited 'The Cross' last night and I have to say the we had a wonderful time. The welcome from Ray, Victoria, Chris and the team was as always warm and friendly and the subsequent service and banta was as strong. I ordered the fillet steak and my wife ordered the fish and chips to be washed...
