We had a one night stay here, it was nice to see an historic building repurposed so effectively. The room was comfortable, if a little warm - opening the windows is effective, but runs the risk of being woken by returning students in the surrounding halls of residence. It's not a major inconvenience though. Food good, breakfast very well presented and very tasty (although our scrambled eggs had been seasoned twice!). You could do a lot worse

This hotel is lovely. Our bathroom featured a large shower unit and a beautiful roll top bath in the large bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and we slept very well. Each floor had a tea/coffee station at the end of the hall which had an excellent array of teas, coffee and hot chocolate with scrumptious biscuits to snack on. Breakfast the next day had a selection of continental pastries and fruit pots, yoghurt etc with table service hot food. There were several options to suit every palate. I had the breakfast waffle topped with fruit and my husband had the vegetarian full English breakfast. Both were fab. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and professional. In fact every person we met in every shop or restaurant we went into were friendly, a Sheffield thing I guess. It was very refreshing. Overall I would stay here again if I visit Sheffield.

There’s not a lot that you could say about this hotel that wasn’t positive. My mum stayed in an accessible ground floor room with a double bed that was small but perfectly formed, my sister and I stayed in a twin on the first floor that was huge. The rooms are modern and have everything you need, lovely bathrooms with great toiletries to use. The shower was a little underpowered and promised so much but offered very little but otherwise great. Hot drinks stations on every floor with quality drinks and biscuits was a great touch, not the usual Nescafé but cappuccino and latte until your hearts content. The breakfast was to die for, proper restaurant quality food, presented on fancy plates. We had eggs benedict and I would have happily paid for it as part of a posh brunch. Best hotel breakfast I can remember having. Only downside is the parking and being surrounded by student accommodation. We stayed not long after the students started and they were still celebrating by partying hard at 5am. I couldn’t really hear them from the room but I’d left the bathroom window open so was treated to a rendition of Mama Mia when I needed a wee in the night. Overall, if I was coming to Sheffield again, this would be my go to.

Room Tip: Parking can be difficult especially if there’s a function on, worth taking into account.

Dear Maxinem2013, It’s so lovely to receive reviews such as this – thank you very much! We work extremely hard here at Halifax Hall to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay and I’m so pleased to see that you are impressed with the services that we offer. All of our beds in the hotel are actually king-sized beds and I’m surprised to hear that you found it to be smaller than what you are used to. The coffee machines are very popular amongst our guests, as are the cookies! I’m glad you liked them as well. We do apologise about the power of the shower, I have passed this comment on and have made a note to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast. All our breakfasts are cooked to order and our ingredients are locally sourced from quality suppliers, which we believe to be much tastier! I’m sorry that you experienced noise issues during your stay. We have a 24 hour reception team, as well as on-site security, who are more than happy to assist our guests with any noise complaints that may arise. - I’m so pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay so much – we work extremely hard at Halifax Hall to make sure all our guests have a great time. We do hope you stay with us again soon! All the best, The Halifax Hall team.

We booked Halifax hall for our wedding, originally for last year but due to covid had to postpone. What a brilliant day we had, the venue was stunning but the staff were second to non! The rooms were lovely and clean and again the staff were very accommodating. A lovely hotel to stay at for a city break, or a great wedding venue in the city but with an out of city feel. Thanks to everyone at Halifax hall for making our day special!
