Stayed overnight with our eldest son and his son to watch football match. The initial room we were given smelt heavily of cannabis! Room changed quickly enough. Service my son was given when ordering a bottle of wine with no cork screw was appalling a very unprofessional manager .Refund given begrudgingly! I have used this hotel on many occasions before normally very good . This hotel is am afraid going downhill

I stayed in a Family Room above the Lakeview Dining Room the night before our wedding and it was very dated, the two armchairs in there were soiled and stained, the beds were hard and uncomfortable in this room, the lamp in the corner didn't work despite changing the bulb and the spotlights in the bathroom didn't work apart from one. Then in the morning I was told that no breakfast could be delivered to the Bride despite me having to get ready so I went downstairs with my maid of honour and as I was wearing my bridal dressing gown over my clothes I was made to feel like a delinquent and they said the best they could do was some bacon sandwiches on a tray to take back up to our room as I was not allowed entry to the breakfast buffet. Then the chef decided to come out and very loudly, in front of all the guests, tell one of the ladies working in the restaurant that we were not allowed into the restaurant with our bridal gowns on which we had already been told so there was no need to embarrass us further. It upset me on my wedding morning and was bang out of order. Not only that, me and my cake maker were told that the breakfast that morning would be in the older part of the hotel as we were getting married at 11am (it was also written in our contract) so my cake maker was shocked to find that despite being told she could come early and set up the cake she found the room set up for breakfast so I accidently saw my wedding cake in the morning which was disappointing. All my guests complained about the quality of their rooms and if it wasn't for how perfect our wedding went because of Aiden from the wedding team and Cherished Moments then it would have been for nothing. Our bridal suite was lovely but even that had white paint left pealing off the walls and we got a knock on the door which woke us up in the morning by a member of the cleaning staff asking if she could come in despite it being hours away from check-out at 12pm. If we had stayed purely based on the hotel I would have rated our experience as 0. We wouldn't even come back for our anniversary if the rooms and customer service of some individuals are not changed. It is such a shame.

Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall & Spa Travel date: 15/10/2021 - 17/10/21 I could not possibly be more upset with my stay. We booked through spa breaks.com, paying £300 for a spa retreat for my birthday. Upon arrival to our room, we were greeted with a large, going off tray off food from next door (see photos attached) which was left there from when we arrived, till we moved rooms. The room was outdated, cold and lacked usual commodities such as a fridge, a main light (only lamps) and the bed was small for two people sharing. This was disappointing but we were exited for the spa! Upon arrival to the spa, they had no robes for use. We proceeded to get changed in a changing room covered in hairs and general filth. When at the pool, we were disappointed to see that the jacuzzi was out of use.. on a spa break!!!!! The pool had sediment at the bottom and was in need of a clean, as the tiles were very stained and chipped. In the sauna, the wood was rotting and in the steam room 2 of the lights were out. At the pool, there were kids jumping in the pool and splashing us - which is not relaxing for a £300 spa break! The pool loungers were also filthy (see attached photo). After all this disappointment, we spoke to reception, who offered us a different room, where we placed some of our belongings whilst we cleared out our old room. When been given a key to the new room, we realised this was the wrong key having walked into someone else’s room. We went back down to reception to have to swap the key to the right room. Outside this room were dirty cups on the corridors (see attached photos). In this room we then discovered there was blood on the pillows and pubic hair. See photos attached! This is absolutely disgusting and not of a 4* standard, and certainly not worth £300. I am absolutely horrified. During the night, the fire alarm went off 3 times, awaking us in our ‘relaxing stay’. The next day we decided to go for a morning swim, as the pool was meant to open at 7am. However we were presented with a sign saying speak to reception about “the next available opening date”. How are we meant to enjoy a spa date without a pool! Overall we are thoroughly upset with our stay, to the point in which we are leaving after only one night as we are so distressed and appalled. I strongly suggest NOT booking this. Photos attached below of our stay.

Having stayed at the hotel on 2 previous occasions I knew what to expect and was looking forward to my stay. However this time my experience was not what I expected. We had booked a table for 6pm ( when restaurant opened), we proceeded to go to restaurant only to be told that as they had a conference on we couldn’t use it. We were then told that we would be eating in a room upstairs, however we then were told that we would be eating our meal in the bar area. Having been given the menu ( not a great choice) we made our choice. A few minutes later the waitress came back and informed us that one of our chosen meals was not available. We began to eat our meal when a coach party came into the bar area and the gentleman who was dealing with their meal requests was so loud we knew what choices each person on all the tables had made. hardly a quite relaxing meal.
