On checking in we were given a beautiful double room with a king size bed, and it was really truly scrumptious, but it only had a shower. Husband required a bath, no probs, they moved us to a room albeit with single beds, but it had a lovely deep old fashioned bath that he could have a really good soak...

The location is great and was the reason we chose the hotel given that we were attending the Easter morning service at Wells Cathedral. We appreciated being able to park the car. The room was clean and tidy and the beds comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was good quality, very tasty and served well. we thought the meal was good...

Booked on a travelzoo offer with 5 course taster menu. Staff were all very friendly and gave a warm welcome to the hotel and restaurant. We were upgraded to a lovely room (room 14) with a fabulous superking bed, high quality linen, large bathroom with bath and shower. The taster menu was excellent, as was breakfast. Wells is a fabulous place...

Friendly and helpful staff, good food, a comfortable room and a great location close to the cathedral. Our room was not huge but the bed was large and comfortable and the room was well resourced with Neals Yard toiletries and a good range of tea and coffee making supplies.

I really enjoyed my short stay and have booked to stay there again . My room was large, comfortable and very clean, with good quality bed linen. The staff were extremely helpful. My family joined me for a very enjoyable meal in Sadler's Restaurant.

The hotel is ideally sited, just opposite a gate to the cathedral green. The staff were friendly and helpful and my room was just as advertised and very quiet. There was a wide choice for breakfast and the bacon and sausages are locally sourced.

Only disappointment was the room shown as the superior room was not the room we had but having said that it was very quite so a good nights sleep was had, lovely big comfy bed. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom &a great shower, plenty of hot water. Not much in the way of atmosphere in the hotel only had one...

Booked for my birthday weekend, on the basis that they take dogs, and have direct access outside, we weren't disappointed by this lovely hotel right in the middle of Wells! We spent 3 nights here, 3 very comfortable nights. Most hotels we go to, I have backache by the second night, but not here. The mattresses are made by faeries...

Loved the hotel - fabulous location, lovely room and bed, great bar and friendly staff. Breakfast also very good, with only minor grumble the time it took to get some toast. All in all, a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Recently taken over by new owners (September 2015) the 15th century White Hart Hotel is situated in the city centre just 10 short steps from the famous Cathedral. Its 15 en suite bedrooms make the perfect base from which to explore Wells and the surrounding area. The restaurant serves locally sourced British food cooked by Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River Café). Wells is a medieval city nestling on the southern side of the Mendip Hills with the mystic Somerset Levels stretching away to the south and west. The history of Wells goes right back to Roman times when it was known that there was a settlement, probably because of the springs that bubble up here. Wells gets its name from these springs which can today be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar, Clarks Village, Wells Golf Club and Longleat are all close by. ... more   less
