Beautiful four-star luxury hotel and spa offering an ideal base to explore the county of Suffolk - from the local Suffolk coast featuring popular destinations such as Southwold and Aldeburgh to Constable country visiting villages such as Flatford and Dedham. Steeped in history, the magnificent red brick Tudor building is over 500 years old and is complemented by the modern facilities of the newly refurbished Seckford Spa, adjacent to the main hotel building. Perfect for business or pleasure, the hotel is also a wonderful Suffolk wedding venue with acres of beautiful grounds and a lake.

The most terrible weekend away in a hotel I have ever had. I chose this place because it was my partner’s birthday treat. I booked it because it had a nice restaurant, spa and swimming pool. I booked the spa for my partner and a special birthday dinner. When we arrived I was told the pool was closed and (no notification on the website when I booked) And even though I booked a table in the restaurant and had a confirmation email they said it was not on there system. Do there wasn’t a table available. The person on reception was not very helpful and rude. The room had no working heating and we woke up to find cockroaches on the floor.

Visited with my daughter for an afternoon tea . All the staff we interacted with were very polite, the service was excellent and the setting was lovely. However although the savouries and cakes were very nice the fruit scones ,which we consider the highlight of the entire experience, were dry and didn't taste fresh and the second scone was cheese which neither of us enjoy so we would have appreciated the option to choose another fruit or plain one instead.

We spent a few days at Seckford Hall whilst visiting Sutton Hoo. The hotel is lovely, very old and quaint. The bedroom had been recently decorated and was very quiet and so comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A good variety choice for breakfast.

We arrived for a two night stay for a wedding and having stayed before and loved our time we were very excited for our visit. Unfortunately a few days before arrival we were informed that the spa facilities (pool/ jacuzzi) were closed and when asked what other facilities were on site we were told ‘depend on the weather, if it’s bad then not much’ which put a bit of a downer on the start of the stay. Throughout the stay the bar was often unstaffed, and despite a large group staying in varying rooms ahead of the wedding all pre-booked for over a year, only one member of staff had been allocated, but also had ‘other errands’ meaning the poor guy tried his best but was run off his feet. Lots of the staff were disinterested and weren’t overly willing to help. We loitered in reception for over an hour on arrival waiting for someone who knew what was happening and were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. The grounds are stunning and it’s a perfect location, good food, but unfortunately the attention to detail and service fell very short of what was expected for the price of a ‘luxury hotel’ and the importance of the wedding.

I stayed at the Seckford Hall hotel a week ago with my 2 dogs in room 39A, a junior suite room I think. Prices were very reasonable and although alone there was a separate room with a sofa bed. The decor looked like it had been recently renovated and was tasteful and in addition I had a small roof terrace where I could have sat had the weather been nicer. The building and the grounds were amazing. I didn’t use the spa as I had no time but again all looked well kept and I heard from people that did that the staff and treatments were lovely. I got lost on the way to the hotel ( the sat nav takes you to a housing estate nearby) and was guided very patiently to the hotel by a lovely Scottish lady whose name I didn’t get but should be commended for her patience and taking the time with me as I’m sure she had other duties to attend to. I found all the staff lovely from the young boys running the bar and reception to the staff in the restaurant who happily set up a table for me and the pooches in the garden room. Nothing was too much trouble. I had read some of the negative reviews on here and honestly could not believe I was ( or they were?) staying in the same place. This hotel is charming and a hidden gem for the price and quality of my room. I felt like I was staying in a country house hotel. Yes there could be improvements but it all costs money and we are just coming out of a pandemic so all in all I think the hotel is heading in the right direction. Some tweaks such as interior decoration updating in the main building and possibly relocating the reception desk ( currently it feels like it’s located in a corridor cut thru, but honestly I don’t know where else they could have it?) The beautiful room as you enter the hotel to the left with a gorgeous fire place looked underused and would be lovely to sit in ( as a bar type area) in the evenings for a cocktail. As I was restricted by the dogs to the bar maybe others were doing this? All in all I had a lovely, if quick business trip and would happily return and spend a few nights there and maybe get to experience the spa and pool area when it reopens.
