Stayed here quite a few months ago now. When we arrived at the hotel we were instantly upgraded on check in, it was a really nice touch and quite surprising considering it was a Friday night and we'd only just booked the room about 10 minutes before arrival. The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are absolutely brilliant,...

Stayed for one night to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. Very nice hotel. Decor a little dark but couldn't fault room and view of millenium bridge was really nice. Bed was extremely comfortable. We sampled the £5 cocktails in the Friday night happy hour and really enjoyed them although the bar completely emptied when the happy hour finished. All staff...

We live locally but always fancied staying at the Malmaison. We weren't disappointed. The weekend room rate was so reasonable that we upgraded to a deluxe double with a brilliant view of the Millennium bridge. All the staff were excellent, being attentive and polite. A particular mention goes to Tirso who served our great breakfast at a seat overlooking the...

I really like this hotel chain. They are of a high standard and good mid priced value for money. Their Newcastle establishment is located on the banks of the Tyne, opposite the Sage Gateshead Centre. I would rate the hotel five stars, but unfortunately they ripped me off with car parking. I was charged £10 to park in a public...

Spent a Sunday night in this hotel last week - the hotel looks good, the location (down in the quays) is excellent & we really enjoyed our stay. Best bits - the staff, breakfast, the bed & the views over the Tyne. Not so good - steak frite (one of their staples) was poor (cool steak & stodgy chips -...

Room clean with the usual cheekily labelled bathroom items and sundries, fortunately they've changed since my Glasgow stay so haven't got joke fatigue. Bar staff very friendly and helpful, even accepted my request for raw egg white (from a lion marked egg I hasten to add) as opposed to pasteurised in my New York Sour (which came courtesy with a...

The hotel is well located on the quayside overlooking the Tyne and across to Gateshead and the Baltic. On Sunday morning it also marks the start of a quayside market with really lovely artesian foods, handicrafts and gifts all reasonably priced too. The rooms are surprisingly big. Mine had 2 televisions. One to watch on the sofa as I looked...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
