I booked via booking.com and paid the full ammount on booking. I was then charge without my knowledge a random further ammount near twice the booking charge, against any terms and conditions. Trying to ring the hotel directly and speak to someone is immpossible the girl answers and puts the phone on the side and continues her conversation with whoever. I can barely understand the customer services team and no one gives a straight answer. It is fraudulent and illegal use of credit cards and personal information. I know have to waste time with the bank and them to get a refund. Outrageous. Do not book with this hotel or chain and give your card details.
Booked a month in advance On the day turned up and told with no warning my booking had been moved to a sister hotel six miles away in a different town. Dangerous Whilst writing this in a few minutes a number of guests have spoken to reception about taps not working in sink and shower Don't take the risk avoid this dangerous hot
Hotel was great value and excellent service from all of the staff, called reception the day before to let them know we would be early arriving and they ensured we had a parking space on arrival. Rooms lovely and modern with tea and coffee available. Breakfast was continental and adequate. Hotel is in a good location close to great bars and restaurants and only a couple of minutes in a taxi to the city centre. Hopefully we can return next year
First things first, the lady who served us at breakfast and checked us out when we were leaving was lovely and incredibly helpful. The location is also great, just round the corner from some great bars and restaurants but not too noisy from the street. Unfortunately, there were quite a few negatives that outweighed these positives for us. After seeing online that the hotel had a car park we decided to drive, but car park is maybe a bit of a stretch for what is actually there and we were very lucky to get a space (there’s only about 6 and 2 of them were taken by restaurant cars). Check in was fine but the lobby and staircase have a weird musty smell, almost a bit like damp. Damp would in fact explain a lot as the (very dated) wallpaper in our room was peeling in several spots. Once we got to our room, we noticed that a lot of it wasn’t clean, the essentials were fine (bedside tables/desk/sheets) but the windowsill and other flat surfaces clearly hadn’t been dusted or cleaned in quite some time. I didn’t want to cause a fuss so my partner and I went to Tesco and bought some Dettol wipes, of which we used 5 just to get it to a cleanliness that we felt comfortable staying in. We also found that the bed in our room was definitely smaller than a standard double, if one of us turned in the night we almost fell out of bed. The room in general was very cramped, although when we saw some of the other open rooms this doesn’t seem to always be the case. The rooms are very dated and clearly aren’t very well sound proofed, we were woken up in the middle of the night every night of our stay due to other noisy guests, and speaking to other guests at breakfast this wasn’t just us. It seemed to be the case for both weeknight stays and weekend stays. This isn’t necessarily the hotel’s fault but it seemed to be the same group of people both nights, so I’m not sure why OYO doesn’t have a policy for dealing with anti-social behaviour. Breakfast was fine and well staffed, if a little bit limited on options.…
Stopped here as we were moving our son to a new flat and picked this initially as it was close to both flats. Glad we did, it was clean, the room was lovely and we got a continental breakfast as well. As mentioned by other travellers the staff are really friendly and helpful. It’s really well situated for the many bars and restaurants, but it’s far enough away so you don’t here the noise from them. Will definitely stay here when we come to visit our son.
