The hotel in is in perfect location for exploring Stratford, just a short walk into town. Alveston Manor looks very nice from the outside however, inside is a very different story. The rooms are in urgent need of general maintenance and require updating. All walls in our room were very marked/scuffed, coffee or tea stains down one wall too. Lots of chips in all woodwork - wardrobe surround, door frames, skirting boards etc. All gloss paint was very yellow and full of marks/dents/scratches. Bathroom door had a hole in the bottom of it and looked like it had been there for some time as was full of dust/ cobwebs. The bathroom was very old fashioned. The tiles (grout), shower screen, bath sealant was mouldy and grimmy. Towels were old and thin and rough. Toiletries were not replenished. We requested to change rooms and was offered the only other room they had available which was in no better condition than ours. We also tried and failed to find another hotel. The breakfast the first day was an absolute joke. Cold and stewed tea and coffee. An omelette that looked as if it had been deep fried as it was a thin disc, dripping with fat and crispy all the way through. Full English was also swimming in fat and inedible. Asked for boiled eggs, when they eventually arrived they were served with fried bread? Which they couldn’t explain, they chased the toast that came with boiled eggs but that never arrived. Also they gave me a dessert spoon to eat my boiled eggs as they didn’t have any teaspoons. The second day, breakfast was not good but better than the first day. However, we were fortunate that the air con in our room did work as there seemed to be numerous people complaining about how hot there rooms were as their air con did not work. Reception was not interested in reducing room rates as some kind of compensation and would not budge, but did not charge us the £7.00 per night for parking in their own private car park. Certainly a hotel to avoid!…
We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of the town, but is a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle. Food in the restaurant was good and the service very good. Would definitely stay again.
Overall, we had a lovely stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was decent and service was good. Great location to walk into Stratford. It is a bit dated inside, but really good value for the package we had which included Prosecco, dinner and breakfast.
My friend and I spent one night here and it was the perfect place to stay. Check in was warm and welcoming (and he went out of his way to return my purse to my room after I left it on the desk!). The room was clean, quiet and spacious and the air conditioning was extremely welcome on one of the hottest nights of the year. We used the pool and steam room which were clean and well maintained. We only ate breakfast (which had limited time slots available) in the hotel but it was delicious with plenty of choice and lovely service. A short walk into town meant it was the perfect place to stay.
Luxury accommodation, Great customer service by friendly and well trained staff. Convenient location for Stratford-upon-Avon Town centre and local places of interest. Quality breakfast. Swimming pool, sauna and steam bath on site. Pleasant hotel grounds.
