We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary for 2 nights was expecting a really nice relaxing stay, but was far from it, we had a package that included dinner, bed breakfast afternoon tea champagne in room on arrival, all sounds great doesn’t it. No one seem to know anything about our package and at every stage we had to ask for what we had on our booking just as well I took confirmation with us, there where so many things that where not right and it spoilt our stay , have been in touch with hotel and they more or less blame the young staff not knowing everything and not enough training, but how do they know if it’s not on the booking all very strange, we was afford that if we ever went to Stratford again to stay there and they would give us preferential treatment what ever that is meant to mean, but there’s no way I would waste my money here again, I would rather book a B&B .have stayed in much better 2/3 star hotels this is not a 4 in my eyes.…
Booked a 2 night break with breakfast in a Superior Room as a treat for my partner. The extra luxuries listed for this room appealed. However not everything listed was provided. On asking at Reception was told these were no longer available and website was being updated to reflect changes. No upgraded tea and coffee making facilities only normal kettle expected Nespresso machine, no complementary newspaper, no film and satellite channels and not 42" TV. On plus side room was large with feather and down bedding and complimentary minibar with red and white wine 187ml, 2btls beer, 2 sml sparkling water, 2 diet Coke. Also had dinner in restaurant on first night. Limited menu choices and then told a number of items not available with no substitutions. Only 1 starter brought, reminded server we had order two (same item) and had to wait for other. Service charge 10% added to bill which I asked to be removed due to poor service. Staff obviously new but lacked supervision. We made other arrangements for dinner on second night! Breakfast was standard with limited choice. Expected more for price paid.…
Upon arrival at the restaurant for dinner from start to finish I thought the staff was exceptional. I was part of a group and they went the extra mile. I could see nothing was too much for them. The food was lovely I ordered the steak and it come just as I like it. As a group we was very impressed by the standard of service especially by the man who served us that evening he was called Alex, he is an asset to your company. He went above and beyond to give us great service. That night after we finished dinner everyone in my group agreed we have a lovely evening and we will definitely be returning. Please pass onto to your restaurant teams our thanks. We will be recommending for sure.
Use this place a lot for team meetings as it is central to the country and offers good meeting room facilities. There is also a pool and a gym. Rooms are modern and well appointed, staff are very helpful.
I had a buy a gift voucher to use the spa facilities for a day, so decided to extend this to overnight stay. I was pleased and surprised to learn that NHS and military received a discount. So my £165 a night room with breakfast was reduced to £65, amazing!! This is pretty much where the excitement ended. We arrived at the hotel mid morning and booked a 50 minute treatment in the spa for 2pm. We relaxed by the pool and used the sauna and steam room whilst we waited, and had a 2 course light lunch which was really lovely. We attended our treatments at 2pm, but they didn’t start till 2.10pm and whilst they were lovely and just what we needed they finished at 2.50pm, so rather than 50minutes they were only 40minutes. We let this go as they were very good. At 3pm we checked into our room. The room was shocking, I can only describe it as a ‘voucher room’ ie if you pay less, you get less! The room was designed for accessibility, the bathroom was tired, and shower designed for a wheelchair, if you sat on the toilet you placed your legs under the basin. There was little to no toilet roll left on the one next to the toilet, and the tissue holder was empty. As we had never stayed in a Qhotel, we presumed this was the norm. We showered and started to relax for the night. It then came to our attention that the room was not a ‘classic room’ as described online. No hairdryer, no iron or ironing board yet the holders were there, also the waste bin was still located in the wardrobe, and as the room was for those who require extra accessibilities we even had emergency pull cords next to the bed. When we looked a little closer at the room the pillow cases were stained, we decided to call reception to raise our concerns, and then when we tried to use the phone this didn’t work either, mainly because it wasn’t plugged in but this might have been due to the cable all mangled and interior wires exposed. Finally I went to reception and raised the issues and stated that because I received discount for being NHS, I felt that I was being penalised by being given a substandard room. Reception/manager were lovely, they moved us into another room a few doors down. Well ‘WOW’ is all I can say, yes the room needs a little TLC, and a bit more emphasis on cleaning, but what a difference. The bathroom was finished to a higher standard, bath, shower, toilet which you could sit on without having to place your legs underneath the basin, and the toilet roll was folded nicely. The room had everything as advertised, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, lovely curtains and a large bed. I have no concerns staying in rooms which are designed for those with extra requirements, but this room felt as though it had been forgotten, and if I were one who required a room like 106 I would be very unhappy and disappointed to learn what the other rooms are like, especially if this room is normally charged at the same rate. And as I’ve already mentioned, just because I receive a discount as I work for the NHS, should not be a reason to allocate me to a room which is just not acceptable.…
