This hotel has the name, even the location but sadly not the management. Yes the room was clean but one TV had no sound. The bar had only Heineken (a beer I do not like) and the food was cheap and nowhere nere the level of 4 Star. The garlic bread was just toasted white sliced bread that had been rubbed with a garlic clove. My burger was tastless and the salad was on the turn. Its a good job we had a good pub lunch prior that filled us up. In the morning we enjoyed our one sausage that we got with the (full) english. My wifes breakfast looked like it had been thrown on the plate. It was just a sham which is a real shame becasue they have such a great hotel its just ran poorly. The staff are friendly and willing to help they just need to sort out their service and bring it up to the standard of 4 star if they are charging 4 star rates.

Booked this hotel as a birthday treat for a two day break in Stratford. Was a bit concerned beforehand because of the negative comments. However we were pleasantly surprised. Arrived on a very hot day and were able to obtain a hotel parking space and also able to check in early. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, unfortunately I didn't make note of her name. We were on the first floor and walked in to blissful air conditioning, it was not noisy as other guests have experienced. the room was very nice, very clean with an efficient fridge and plenty of tea and coffee. Bathroom was also very clean with nice fluffy towels. Yes the floors in the corridors and in the room were a bit creaky but the building is over 200 years old! We were a bit worried that we would hear creaking floors from other bedrooms but once in our room we never heard any noise from other rooms. Our room overlooked the car park but this wasn't noisy at all and preferred it to overlooking the street. Breakfast was pre-ordered but not a problem and served by very pleasant staff, nothing too much trouble and you could order as much extra tea, coffee and toast as you wanted. overall a great stay in a lovely hotel in the centre of Stratford and close to plenty of bars and restaurants.

Arrived on a very hot day, went to our room to discover the air con was very noisy, asked for it to be looked at to find that no one available till the following day, so was given the option of turning it off or moving room, so we moved to another room, which was also a privilege room, but it was far from it, tired, dirty, grubby, cobwebs everywhere, bed extremely uncomfortable and the room had a musty smell like it had been closed up for a while. Breakfast was a pre order, which was fine, until I received it, I have never seen scrambled eggs so white and watery in my life, refused to eat it as feel I would have been very unwell if I did. Most of the staff were complaining about lack of staff and no one wanting to work there, I can understand why, the place is very depressing and lacks any sort of atmosphere. No Housekeeping due to COVID so had to get extra towels and toilet paper from reception. I do feel that due to COVID their housekeeping should have been a lot better then it was. Spoke to the manager on our departure but to be honest he wasn't really that interested, like he had heard it so many times before. Paid a lot of money for a very disappointing stay. On the plus side Stratford is lovely and we eat in some fantastic restaurants while we were there, which made worthwhile.

Stayed here last night (24th july) for our wedding anniversary. We got a deal on secret escapes, for bed and breakfast in a privilege room. We'll it was no way a privilege room it was, it was tired ,grubby ,depressing room. If you look on numerous websites the rooms look lovely ours was awful, the fridge was warm, got 2 pods for the coffee machine, apparently having a espresso machine in the room makes it a "privilege "room so I was told at reception. We went out to get our own fresh milk as for a 4* hotel I would have expected. In hindsight should have said something when we got on the room but we dumped our stuff and went straight out, complained on checkout he said we could have asked for another room but to be honest all rooms should be as advertised on the websites. On a plus point the breakfast was nice no complaints there, will definitely not be stopping here again.

Fabulous location. Beautiful old building. Super staff. Great size room (othello). Very tired furniture, cobwebs all round bathroom window, paint chipped really badly. But bed was clean and comfortable. Pillows were awful. We were lucky enough to get a parking space, even at £15 its worth it for the heart of stratford. I read a review complaining of creaky floorboards, but look how old the building is! Expect it, but value the character of the place. Breakfast is preorder at the moment, if you only order a couple of items, eg, just bacon and eggs they dont increase the quantity to make a proper portion, but it was tasty. A real mixed bag, we bought our room on a special offer, less than £70 plus parking, so cannot complain, however, if we had paid full price i would have been really upset. We are glad we stayed, would stay again, but it's not worth 4☆ or the full rates. Shame, it could be a real gem.
