We booked this hotel as everywhere else was booked up due to the german market. On arrival it looked nice. We checked in and was told it was just the room we had booked and not breakfast even though my email confirmation said I had booked it! So after a bit of an argument with receptionist she added it on... More

Booked this hotel for a long weekend, mainly due to the price and location. Would I stay there again, probably not, not unless there was absolutely no where else to stay. the hotel is old, the entrance tells you that, the lobby toilets scream of it. Being an old building there is no lift to the upper floors, which in... More

This looks like a lovely posh hotel, and very quick check in. But as soon as i asked about a access to our room for my disabled mother, with a reply of "go outside, through the car park and in through the back entrance". I started to get my doubts. We booked in april and requested a carers room (next... More

The old part of this hotel has got some charm - admitted. However - if you get expelled to the "new" part of this hotel, what awaits you (after walking along narrow collidors for what feels like a mile) is a sad mixture of outdated furniture, torn wall-paper, and damp and smelly rooms. It would be nice to say that... More

On entering the hotel there is a sign saying that JRR Tolkein stayed here, but that must have been in its better days. The initial impression of the Victorian (mock tudorish) exterior and reception area soon evaporates when dragging your bag along long narrow corridors into the 1960s style brutalist extension where most of the time expired rooms are located.... I stayed here for 5 nights recently whilst on buisness. Fot a 3 star hitel the price was quite reasonable. The pictures on here looked good. Positives: Check in was quick. The main part of the hotel looks lovely, bar, reception and dining area. But thats all I can say. Negatives: Reception staff offered no advise about parking or dining.... More

Can;t believe I didn't read the reviews - it is undoubtedly the worst hotel I have stayed in for at least 30 years. The room was musty, dirty, outdated, cold and basically an insult to a paying guest. The bar was a joke - the dining room was closed due to a "theme" evening so eat in the bar but... More

Whole hotel smells terrible musty and damp, bedrooms are damp and mouldy which consequently made me and my colleagues ill despite staying in different rooms in different parts of the hotel. Some staff were very rude and miserable. Don't bother staying here.

Food was so awful - steak I can't even describe how bad - for £28!! Room was freezing, old and dirty. Our party waited over an hour for food and most people didn't eat it it was that bad! Waiter was racist and insulted members of our party several times. Will not be staying again!

We had our wedding reception at the hotel on Saturday 22 October 2016 and myself and many of my guests also stayed over on the Friday night. I just wanted to thank the event organisers Sereen and Aaron and the rest of the staff at the Plough and Harrow for giving us an amazing wedding day. In fact from the... More
