According to the plaque outside Tolkien stayed here in 1916 - disappointingly most of the hotel hasn't been updated since. Good location but on a busy main road. Good secure on site parking. The main building has plenty of character but creeks and groans on every movement. The room was clean and comfy if a little dated. The bathroom was...

We stayed in the Plough & Harrow for one night whilst away on business. It is an old hotel and therefore some of the carpets, fixtures and wallpaper are fairly vintage, but could not fault the cleanliness of our room and ensuite. We enjoyed a comfortable stay and would recommend.

2 night stay (1 week on) - arrived mid-afternoon Friday, pleasant hotel nice atmosphere. Mattress on bed had had it's day, not the best to sleep on after a long drive. Spoke with reception next morning and sure enough they apologised, and changed our room and moved our things whilst we were out. That evening the manager spoke with us...

This is the second time we have been to a murder mystery event here. They serve a three course meal while the actors mingle and sit at your table so you can ask them questions. They fight amongst themselves and clues are revealed throughout the evening and part way through the night someone else was"murdered". A fun evening out for...

I purchased £40.00 voucher for afternoon tea for my mum for mothers day. We saw there was an offer on (buy one & get one free) so my sister & niece came along too. I had pre-booked but there was no sign of our booking. We were seated anyway. My vouchers were then taken of me. The afternoon tea arrived,...

Room not ready, had to ask for bed to be made up. Room meant to be family room. Mum and I were quite squashed in which would have been dreadful if 3rd person had been there. Booked for 3 people with just two bath towels and 1 hand towel, 2 coffee sachets on tea tray and topped up with only...

We used the plough and harrow for our wedding, and we thought that they were fantastic. Everything went superb, the staff were amazing. Located within metres of local amenities from Birmingham. Medium priced.

A great night at the hotel. Started in the bar and joined by the actors who started setting the scene. Moved into the dining room, no candlesticks but a murder with a fondue fork. The cast joined our meal enlightening us with snippets of information and allowing us to interrogate them about their character's association and knowledge of the victim....

So we booked the plough and Harrow for our wedding party. This place is certainly a hidden gem. From start to finish Seren was amazing...she made what could be potentially a stressful time very enjoyable. We can't thank her enough. An asset to the hotel. We arrived the day before then met Aaron who coordinated the day and evening. All...
